Jackie Green became the UK's youngest transsexual after an op in Thailand on her 16th birthday.
The 18-year-old — who was born Jack but lived as a girl since age ten — was asked to enter by modelling scouts who had no idea of her history.
The aspiring model, from Leeds, hopes to use the opportunity to speak out about bullying and transgender issues.
She said: "I went to the Britain's Next Top Model show in London and was really surprised when scouts came up to me. Miss England is a prestigious competition. I'd love to win. I've as good a chance as anyone."
At 12 mum Susie, 43, took her to a US clinic for hormone treatment to stop her male puberty. The divorced IT manager then re-mortgaged her house to fund Jackie's £28,000 sex change op.
Bullying led her to attempt suicide five times. She said: "I can never thank my mum enough, she saved my life."
She is in the Miss Fresh Photographic round of the contest where public votes decide who makes the semi-finals.
The only impediment for doing so is political correctness.
I feel so sorry for the families of young girls all over the UK who are accustomed to tuning in to the Miss England Pageant to show their daughters what great things that they can do if they work hard toward being a highly-accomplished Lady, and this year they'll tune in to.....this.
Parents will be faced with the uncomfortable task of saying "Well Maryanne, that isn't actually a girl. It's a boy with a severe mental disorder who has gone to a doctor and changed his body to look like a girl's. We're required by law to call him a girl but he's really not."
I'm guessing that the Miss England TV ratings will not exactly be stellar this year.

It is truly sad that our culture has come to this point.
This is truly amazing, the sex change op actually gave ‘her’ exceptionally bad teeth like most British women.
Hopefully there are easy and convenient homeschool and private school options for parents in the UK so that they might allow their children an opportunity to escape this madness, at least to some degree.
We are truly in a Dark Age at this point in time and I fear for our future here in the USA as well.
I like to read news from the UK because, unfortunately, they are farther down the road of Socialism than we are and so we can oftentimes see what's in our own future by looking "across the pond". A similar future awaits us if we do not take measures to stop it.

But I would suggest that if this entrant is allowed into the pageant then there will be no choice for the judges but to hand the crown to "it" and the choice will have absolutely nothing at all to do with the entrant's appearance, demeanor, intelligence or any of the other elements traditionally used to name a Pageant winner.....not handing the crown to 'this' would instantly be called "a homophobic move" and there would be endless picketing and shrill hysteria for the 'terribly insensitive and hurtful' decision.
Just going on looks, he should have stayed a boy.
I would suggest that if he's allowed to enter, he'll win.
It will be entirely political, just like giving Zero the Nobel Prize
