If you are looking for a conservative alternative to Romney and had to choose today between Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry or Rick Santorum, which one would you choose?
Final results of the Free Republic 1/9/2012 non-Romney Conservative Straw Poll (see post 548)
Newt | 225 | 59.7% |
Perry | 77 | 20.4% |
Santorum | 75 | 19.9% |
Newt
Fresh Prince of Austin: Perry
NEWT... there really is no else capable of wading in to the den of snakes and winning. NEWT !
NEWT
Whoever has the best chance against Romney, I think that Newt looks like the strongest one unless something unpredictable happens.
Newt or Perry.
My personal preference is Santorum, but I will cast my vote for any of the three without regard to any personal objection I may hold to any of them.
If Newt or Perry polls closer to Romney in the florida primaries, then I will vote for that person in an effort to defeat Romney being our nominee.
My preferences:
Perry — by a nose — over Gingrich.
Gingrich by five lengths over Santorum.
And Santorum by ten furlongs over Barky. :-)
I would vote for any of the three. . .They love this country and want to put us back on the right track. It is going to be a daunting job.
Rick Santorum
He is 1000% pro-life.
I would get behind any one of them, but that's the order I think would be our best bet for a candidate to beat Romney, then Bambi.
Santorum, Perry and if it comes down to Romney/Gingrich then Gingrich.
Newt!
Why?
Per Newest SC Polling numbers..
Liberal Willard = 30%
Conservative Newt = Strong and rising 23%
Conservative Santorum = 19%
Conservative (Spoiler) Perry = Pathetic 5% but Willards BFF if its close in South Carolina
Newt next.
That said, I'll vigorously work for, and vote for whomever the GOP nominates (even Romney, but I hope not).
Marxist Obama and his minders really, really want us to indignantly go for a third party rogue, and it surely worked for Clinton/Perot.
While Newt might resonate with many here, he is entirely unelectable in today's glam-pre-occupied electorate. He is ahem, overly gifted, calorically speaking (not that it's a bad thing, but a less-than-interested electorate will pick a slim Marxist over a wide-bodied professor.) I'm just the messenger on this, I wish it were otherwise.
.
Santorum
I think Newt, reluctantly. Perry - nope. Santorum - don’t think he has a realistic chance of winning.
Newt
Newt
Newt. He’s the only one with the experience, and the G.C. Patton to turn this unsightly mess around at this point in the history of the Marxist plunder of our Constitution, our way of life.
The others are business as usual, go along to get along, focused on the wrong issues, or seemingly unaware the Marxism problem is of the magnitude it is.
