2012 Iowa Caucus Live Thread
Iowa GOP ^ | 1.3.12 | Free Vulcan

Posted on 01/03/2012 8:08:24 AM PST by Free Vulcan

Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.

Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.

We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.

My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:

Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1

Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.

And we are losing states which used to be red, then purple.

States which turned purple in the face of:

a. A manufactured financial crisis.
b. The "First Black President".
c. A feckless opponent who regularly insulted his base, the GOPs worst candidate since Alf Landon.
d. A full-bore media onslaught.

Only one of those conditions will repeat in 2012...and "The First Black President" will have proven himself an abject failure.

Purple turns red again...

Both of them were even sentient.

I question that. But I definitely won't question your non-sentience.

Rubio is a Natural Born Citizen.

Anyone who claims otherwise is either a racist or a crackpot or both.

And in any case what difference does it make? Now that Odumbo has actually served as POTUS the courts have no other way to rule than to uphold the precedent.

With a lead of just 45 over Romney.

Guaranteed second now. What a nailbiter. 12 percent still to come.

Hiya!

It’s changed since then.

Today she [Sarah] had called MB to go back to Congress, (sweet revenge).

I agree. It was deliciously sweet revenge for that knife Michelle stuck in her back last year

Ye-ye catfight!

Dave,
Check out this map. It’s a Huckaboom again! Rick dominating the map of Iowa’s counties.

Perry just said he is headed to South Carolina in the morning. New Hampshire is already bought by Romney

*****

Yes, I read that- you’re right. That’s where he’ll make his stand. I wish him luck. Newt and Rick , on the other hand, are going to NH to cut Romney down to size.

Not shilling for Mitt. Just stating my opinion that he will win the nomination.

Mr. Robinson will be the judge of whether your post was shilling for Romney, or not. I think it was. Over the top enthusiastic, as a matter of fact.

It’s a disaster for Romney. He had 167 hours from Iowa’s caucus beginning to New Hampshire’s vote ending. He needed a big win to get momentum moving into New Hampshire. Now he will be looking at 48 to 72 hours lost to reporters asking “Who is Rick Santorum”.

Bad break for Romney, good break for America.

If Bush had followed in Reagan's footsteps, there would have been no Democrat party left in the US today.

"Read my lips...no new taxes."

Six words that will live in infamy.

Santorum back in the lead with 88 percent.

Des Moines and Polk Country finished.

They are calling for Santorum already.

Time for Perry and Bachmann to drop out and endorse a non-Romney candidate, Newt or Santorum.

For the good of the country.

“and if gasoline ends up $4+ this summer, anyone will beat Obama.”

Goldman Sach’s today affirmed it’s prediction of $5+ gas (POSSIBLY $6+!), and $2400 gold by July.
