2012 Iowa Caucus Live Thread
Iowa GOP ^ | 1.3.12 | Free Vulcan

Posted on 01/03/2012 8:08:24 AM PST by Free Vulcan

Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.

Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.

We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.

My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:

Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1

Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.

I wonder if Santorum is getting a sympathy vote from people that are disgusted with the Colmes remark. His surge is unexpected.

Before ya’all get too excited, try to remember that Iowa went for HUCKABEE in 2008.

Oh sheesh! That's right...thanks for the heads up on that.

Listening to the radio this morning in Florida, where we have a “closed” primary, the county supervisor of elections was telling folks that today was the last day to register or change your party for voting in the primary. She proceeded to kiss the paulbot co-host’s butt as she told of a man who came in to switch from DemonRat to Republican “but just for one day, so he could vote for Ron Paul” she gushed, “and then switch back to D.”

So, what good is a closed primary? Well, it makes the cheats plan ahead, I guess.

SARAH PALIN IS ON FAUX NOW TALKING GOOD about NEWT GINGRICH!

She spoke positively about all of them including freak-show Ron Paul and his clueless supporters.

I wonder much longer some people are going to keep looking to her as if she's the Oracle of Delphi?

“The Truth Regarding Santorum’s Endorsement of Arlen Specter
Posted on October 12, 2011 by Admin

“The reason I endorsed Arlen Specter is because we were going to have two Supreme Court nominees coming up,” said Santorum. “I got a commitment from Arlen Specter that no matter who George W. Bush would nominate, he would support that nominee.”

excerpt http://blog.lisagraas.com/2011/10/12/the-truth-regarding-santorums-endorsement-of-arlen-specter/

Who is your candidate? Ron Paul?

...Come on folks, who else can beat Obama, if not Romney? I am not saying I like Romney...

Your comment, not the only one by any means, reminds me of McCaca on the last election, and you know what I argument was? "Winning" is not always winning!... If Romney wins, conservatives and ESPECIALLY Social-conservatives would LOSE.

And you are wrong in thinking that it's all about the mighty buck... I am not denying that, is IMPORTANT but so, it is the Culture.. our values... and some one has to fight for them.

Romney is the PRO-HOMO CANDIDATE just like our current OHOMO.

I want better, not same garbage

matt1234, I am the one of the most conservative person posters here on FR. Been actively posting since 1998 (check it out). But the problem is we can only choose from the candidates actually in the race. I would love to have Palin or Rubio as president. But Palin has been “dan qualyed” and can never, ever win. That makes me angry and mad, but it’s the reality. The media has framed her as an air head.

Romney may not be beat Obama. But who else of the republicans can?

Newt? Ha. The media will eat him alive. And he wasn’t conservative anyway.

Paul. Can’t be serious.

Santorum? Possibly if he had the establishment behind him. But I think tonite, is his high point.

Perry? I would be OK with Perry as president, but he has the same issue as Palin. He is framed as an idiot in the public’s eye.

Better to vet them all now than after they get nominated.

No surprises that way.

Sarah really needs to come out and endorse Newt before SC. He would wrap the nomination up after SC and FL if she did.

I so pray!

If I was Newt I would not spend to much time or resources in liberal New Hampshire. Get on down to South Carolina ASAP.

************

That’s not Newt, Parley. Newt and Rick are going to NH to double team the Mite, and cut him down to size so as to marginalize him down the road.

Good point!

Santorum 24%+
Willard 24%

Paul 22%
Newt 13%

That’s our viable fied going to SC & FL. Screw NH!

Newt is still the only one tied with Romney nationally, and he has leads in the south.

I hope some more folks come out and endorse Newt (Palin, please! LOL), but he is still the favorite to win in much, much, much, MUCH, MUCH more important South Carolina and Florida.

I do fear Rick Santuckabee will be the new Mike Huckatorum, though. :-(

Go Newt!
