Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.
Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.
We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.
My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:
Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1
Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.
I didn’t cathc the corporla’s name as the CNN feed froze and they cut away during the interview. But by that point he had already said he voted for Ron Paul and expressed his opinion that Iran was Israel’s military business and not ours.
Romney received 25.23% in 2008. He’s not there yet and I suspect Santorum will do relatively better in the late reporting precincts.
“The establishment needs to be very careful about getting what they wish for. They may need magic underwear to keep the GOP from breaking up if the push Romney over the line. Especially if Romney loses the General! Whoo boy, hell to pay then - theyll be blamed for Dole-McCain-Romney. DoMcRo.”
And they are like Baskin-Robbins. They’ll have another flavor of idiot here in four years to throw the election to the Democrats. They love this game. It works every time. Has since Willkie.
As your hero, Gov Perry told Willard, “I’m NOT in the the betting game, hombre!”

I've heard that from many libs and elites, but I've heard no evidence to support it.
I believe that obama-supporters are pushing romney in order to suppress the evangelical and conservative vote in the general election.
And he and NEwt need to pound the crap out of Romney because if ROmney gets to hang around he will end up with the most delegates since the big states sure to go for him will all be winner take all.
She’s talking good about everyone.
She wants a cabinet position.
Oh no!!
The WHO feed wasn’t live.
Nonsense!
You could not fill a gas station rest room with more than a handful of ATTORNEYS who agree with your crack pot ideas about citizenship!
I can’t stand Obama, but Natural Born Citizen means CITIZEN AT THE MOMENT OF BIRTH and nothing else.
Wasn't there a Governor of one of those states who said to ignore Pauls numbers because he had observed and took note of the Paulbots operations in his state and how they were going about things there?
Newt will be OK. He will leave Iowa (The Harkin State), and have a very good showing in the South.
Do they have more serial adulterers down south?

I believe they have sinners of all kinds in the south.
Thankfully, God forgives.
Does anybody know if the later report caucus sites tend to be more or less conservative...?
OK...
Before ya’all get too excited, try to remember that Iowa went for HUCKABEE in 2008.
And most of FR was for Duncan Hunter, until he drew just 1% in Iowa.
Interesting to see how Santorum holds up after the media and Romney go after him.
I am amazed at Ron Paul's results. I guess a lot of it is that anyone can vote in a caucus.
No it does not...
Newt is on cspan now..magnificient. Just remember this about Santorum..he voted to raise the debt ceiling EIGHT times. He is NOT a fiscal conservative. He voted for the bridge to nowhere in Alaska and is known for supporting earmarks. He is a good man on SOCIAL issues and America needs more civility for sure...but we need a savvy fiscal conservative and that man is definately Newt. We know about the rest of the candidates. Newt is our hope
