Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.
Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.
We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.
My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:
Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1
Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.
Yes indeed. Newt and Perry will take Romney and Santorum to the woodshed in the next couple of primaries.
Iowa is proving itself a joke. Open Primary and a lower actual “Republican” turn out.
Oh, and I have not even gotten to how crackpot Paul screws up the “promote the geneal welfare” second most important objective of the uS Constitution.
No, I don’t mean the definition that the socialists have pevereted to build entitlements. I mean how that jerk has no problem expanding by tens of millions the number of people destroying families, neighborhoods, and US productivity with a massive growth in drug freaks.
Romney will not beat Obama. Romney will savagely go after any conservative that is in his way but will be all nicey nicey with Obama, just like McCain. And the democrats will be their usual viscious selves.
Ford, Bush Sr., Dole, McCain, Romney. Wake up. These types never go after democrats, only conservatives so the gravy train keeps flowing.
You forgot Germany, one of the biggest expenditures, or the biggest.
Wondering what the count is on the Sarah Palin write-in? I know she got some votes but will the MSM report it?
No, just give him the axe.
Thanks for the response .... and goodnight.
Come on folks, who else can beat Obama, if not Romney? I am not saying I like Romney, or he will beat Obama. But none of the other republicans can beat Obama.

Keep saying it ...over and over. Until you begin to believe it.
Oh, seems you’ve already done that.
Geez! I just heard the guy on ABC radio news say that 30% were supporting Ron Paul because they’re looking for a “true conservative.”
The specter of this guy showing up in uniform in Iowa to campaign for a presidential candidate ought to be disturbing.
Someday BillyBoy....you may just get current about Newt along with the rest of the nation instead of re-laying old news that carries no truth to it.
Are you enjoying carrying the Romney agenda for him?
Didn’t Gov. Carroll Campbell tell them to vote for GHWB, and they did?
Bill Kristol must not be a Mittens man, he’s pointed out Mitten’s shortcommings in even reaching 30,000 votes three times in the last half hour. With only 27% of precincts reported it seems like rank speculation to make such a jump once.
# 1, Romney will not have the Republican base. That is a Fact, no matter who he were to choose as a running mate. FACT
#2 Free Republic is an ANTI-ROMNEY website per the founder. Romeny will NEVER have the Conservative base. In fact, the Conservative base will continue to expose his Liberalism.
Happy New Year!!
Welcome to Free Republic, America's exclusive site for God, Family, Country, Life & Liberty conservatives!
ObamaCare = RomneyCare = CommieCare. NO Romney! NO WAY!!
Newt won’t win SC either . His adultery and 3rd wife won’t go over with southern voters. I think it will be between Perry and Romney.
Folks want a candidate to rally around sooner rather than later. I think the NH primary will set the stage for a run off in SC and a finale in FL

I didn’t vote for Obama, rest assured. And I’ll support any candidate who eliminates O-Care outright. I hate that I am going to be forced to pay for other peopple’s abortions.
Santorum - 12,231 - 24%
Romney - 12,124 - 24%
Paul - 11,117 - 22%
41% reporting
GO SANTORUM!!!
