CNN Iowa poll: Romney 25, Paul 22, Santorum 16, Gingrich 14

You know who this benefits?

*snip*

So there’s the long-awaited Santorum surge among social cons, who are finally giving him a first look at the perfect moment after flirtations this fall with Bachmann, Perry, Cain, and Gingrich. Two caveats, though, one minor and one major. The minor: PPP’s poll published this morning found Santorum stuck at 10 percent, still behind Gingrich and Bachmann. Are their numbers the outlier or are CNN’s? The major: According to the crosstabs, CNN only polled … registered Republicans in Iowa. That means they’re badly underestimating support for Paul, who’s cleaning up among Democrats and independents who are planning to vote in the caucuses.

You don't pay attention one bit. He publicly stated that he would stay in the campaign as long as he does not take dead last in Iowa. Well guess what? That is NOT going to happen so he will be here well after Iowa. Sorry that a true conservative is so upsetting to you.

> Santorum has a lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union of 88% conservative. Gingrich has a lifetime rating of 90% conservative.

Since Gingrich has been in office (where he got the rating) he’s been making some strange bedfellows and I don’t mean Callista. Freddie Mac, Nasty Pelousy, Illegals... would you like me to go on?

Santorum has been CONSISTENTLY conservative... whether you want to admit it or not, Newt has NOT (and has flip flopped almost as much as Mittens). Newt may end up being the nominee and I’ll end up voting against Zer0, but you can’t make me happy about Newt being our nominee. Sorry. I know and remember too much.

You're a nut. Telling the truth about someone is "bashing him." He can't win. He lacks the organization, lacks the finances, lacks the credibility--he lost his last election in a bid for reelection and he supported Specter against Toomey. He's a loser and he will only help Mitt to win.

Awwww, did it get it's wittle feewings hurt? Poor baby.

Iowa is a huge mess. Virginia is a huge mess. The polls are all over the place. I’m officially giving up trying to predict which way any of the primaries are going, and which, if any, of the polls reflect the slightest bit of reality.

Exactly right... and with so much up in the air, you might as well pull for the candidate you can actually vote FOR, not just “put up with”.

Newt’s numbers were once in the toilet, too. Santorum has a chance if people vote their hearts and minds instead of watching the horse race for cues.

Gingrich told me HE was the nominee!

Dang, I actually did want Gingrich.

So you share those views, yet are voting for someone who does not. Got it.

All I said was...

As I said...

And I was right.

You gotta admire the Romney strategy. Work with the media to peek each of his opponents for about one and a half weeks far enough before voting day until Romney is the only one left standing. Congrats to the Romney team for a plan well executed!

Your funny and yes I am glad you are here. I just heard that IF Santorum does well in Iowa, he may skip campaigning in New Hampshire and head directly to South Carolina. That might be a decent decision.

I’m thrilled to see Santorum’s rise in the polls. Could he be peaking at the right time?

Just heard that Santorum will skip NH and NV if he does well and go straight to SC.

Well, of course, means better than 4%.

This means he will essentially cede Liberal states to Romney and work diligently to split Conservative votes in states where Romney would otherwise not have a chance to succeed.

The media (including CNN) want Romney, and many Freepers will happily help.

You are right to say we never learn, because WE NEVER LEARN. As LONG AS I HAVE BEEN ALIVE, Conservatives have been doing this - over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again and again and again and again and again and again.

And the Establishment ALWAYS get their nominee (except in Reagan’s case, the one time we didn’t have five-seven Conservatives running until every last vote was counted in every state). I don’t believe for one second Romney is doubling Gingrich in Iowa, based on their current campaigning, nor do I believe Santorum is going to pull of a miracle win.

NRO, Rove, Fox News, et al have been desperately trying to push Gingrich voters toward Santorum. We all know why.

Mark my words, Conservatives are going to do it again. IT WILL NEVER END, NEVER. WE WILL NEVER LEARN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your precious ACU rating says nothing about Newt’s support for amnesty, global warming intervention, or GingrichCare. If you want to bask in the glory years of the Clinton Administration, then be my guest. But I am more interested in where a candidate stands today. And Santorum is far superior to Gingrich when it comes to upholding conservative principles. If Newt Gingrich more closely measures up to your standards than Rick Santorum, then those are standards which we do not share. I’ll take the conservative candidate. You choose whatever candidate you wish.

Then Gingrich better get on the ball and begin campaigning in Nevada and New Hampshire and write off South Carolina so that the conservative vote doesn't get split. He might as well write off Iowa too since he's only managed to spend 11 of the past 44 days there.

Hey, I’m a Newt guy and have been from the beginning. But of the others, Santorum is the only one I could enthusiastically support in the general election. Well, I could support Perry pretty happily too, but I’d be constantly worried that he might identify Montreal as the capital of France or something....but I digress.

If Santorum should somehow win Iowa, he’d have as good a chance as anybody to get the not and as good a chance as anybody to beat Filth in the general election. Why do you think he wouldn’t?

Hank

Santorum might need to flesh out his policy positions a little more. 2,000 pages of Obamacare is too much, but I think we need more than a sentence fragment to work with when it comes to reforming Medicare.

http://www.ricksantorum.com/made-america

“Reform Social Security and Medicare for sustainable retirements”

Ah, but he’s a good religious fellow. What does depth and substance on policies matter when he’s never broken any of the 10 commandments, as far as anyone knows?

Thinking matters. Intelligence matters. Brain matter matters. Vote Newt.

Well, Hoodat.

When Romney has the nomination wrapped-up after Super Tuesday and Rick Santorum pulls in 8% of the delegates nationally, I am going to love to hear you explain whom we should vote for.

But hey, I’ve seen you a thousand times, in a thousand different incarnations, Hoodat. Those of us who actually want to make a difference always find ourselves going through this same losing scenario. And there always a thousand smug Hoodats telling us how justified they are.

Enjoy Mitt Romney, I’m staying home. For those folks who’ve been here for many years and know who I am, and how I have contributed to the GOP for many years, and the tree-and-branches organizations I’ve spear-headed to GOTV over the years, they

Come and take a look at the photos and letters of thanks on my office wall sometime. I’ve given blood and life to Conservative causes and the GOP, and I’ve been the guy G-ing-OTV until my feet give out on me. I have begged and pleaed with folks over the years to pull the party right but support the nominee.

If Romney gets the nomination - if the Establishment GOP wins ANOTHER nomination because of another malcontentious band of Hoodats and their five-percent national candidates - I quit. I cannot do this anymore, wasting my time fighting for Conservative causes and candidates only to always have Hoodats out there claiming nobody is ever good enough but the five-percenters.

It’s not worth it. I cannot fight to move the country right when no matter what reasonable possibility of moving the country right is within sight, it gets smacked down by Hoodats as not nearly good enough.

If Romney wins because of yet another Conservative vote-splitting and bull-headed ambition by five-percenters, I’m done. You can go back into your combine, pat yourself on the back, and start the drive for “Sheriff Joe for President 2016!” or Tom Tancredo, or Alan Keyes, or whomever. Meanwhile, watch your country crumble.
