So Newts on board eh?
Gee, that was easy. LoL
No one in VA registers by party, there are only registered voters who show up at a primary and ask for either an R or D voting card. Then you get ‘spotted’ as an R or D voter, tho you could have crossed over. It’s a nightmare not knowing WHO your voters are, but no one has a list of registered Republicans or registered Democrats in VA.
Yes, Virginia voters, there is a Newt.
http://nbc12.wordpress.com/2011/12/23/perry-falls-far-short-of-making-virginia-primary-ballot/
...A GOP activist who witnessed the count said that it became very clear that the Perry campaign, which reported to the Virginia Board of elections that it had gathered 11,911 signatures, did not come anywhere near that number. This source said Perrys campaign may have submitted somewhere between 4-6 thousand qualified signatures.
Perrys State Chair, former Attorney General Jerry Kilgore confirmed that his candidate did not make the ballot.
If he’s misquoting Jerry Kilgore, Ryan won’t have a job tomorrow. The 4-6000 is a report from a source so it may be wrong.
If I had my Va campaign in Jerry Kilgore’s hands I wouldn’t expect results like this... amazing.
...and yet Hussein cultists still get to submit “Mickey Mouse” signatures to fire American hero Scott Walker.
Wonder if the state of VA also allows ballot access through payment of $ if one does not get on the ballot through collection of signed petitions? Here in FL a candidate can collect signatures or pay the $ for ballot access.
Yeah, that’s what happened LoL
Well I hope America is happy with the process, now we are down to the 3 Amigos.
Mr Amnesty, Mr Socialized Medicine, and Mr Foamy.
Newt said he had no intention of qualifying in MO. Something about it not being recognized by RNC.
NBC12 is reporting that only 4 to 6K of the 11,911 signatures are valid. This stinks so bad! Do they have numbers or not?!! This entire breaking story has been all innuendo and headlines with no solid numbers. I am to believe that a guy who has served 4 consecutive terms in Texas missed the mark by 50% or MORE? Is it 4k or is it 6K? WTF?I think you might have misconstrued the meaning...

This source said Perrys campaign may have submitted somewhere between 4-6 thousand qualified signatures. That suggests that there was a difference it what the Perry campain reported (11,911) and what they actually submitted. IOW's there were never 11,911 signatures submitted by Perry.
CWCT, reading further down the thread I see you are conecting to RPV web for info. I’ll defer to your having better data than my conjecture.
Doesn’t matter. According to the news reports, Primary in Missouri is just for show. Real decision will be in Caucuses. Pubbies decided they didn’t want the contest decided by primaries.
For some reason, it was decided to go ahead and hold it anyway. Primary is thus just a non-binding referendum.
No, this un named source is claiming that only 4-6K of the submitted 11,991 signatures are valid.
Gee could they narrow it down?
The process seems good to me. If you can’t find 50 volunteers to collect 200 signatures each how much chance did you really have to win in that state anyway? You can’t will yourself onto the ballot. You need to demonstrate a viable campaign and signatures are a very fair way of doing that, more fair than having to pay to get on.
Nothing in Google news on Jerry Kilgore...
Yeah.
“Newt has never run for statewide office let alone national office.”
No, but he DID run a national campaign once, for 435 races. You may recall, it was back in 1994. He managed to pull off a GOP majority in the House for the first time in 40 years. Followed up successfully two more times, too.
This is a ground game in each of the states. Once funded, Newt will be able to do a fine organizing job through his surrogates in the states, districts and precincts across the country.
WaPo, 53 sec ago is reporting that Perry failed to submit 10K signatures...
Jerry Kilgore, former state attorney general and chairman of Perrys campaign in Virginia, said Friday night that he was disappointed that the candidate didnt reach the required number of signatures. But, he said, qualifying for the Virginia ballot is a daunting task.
Hopefully he will do better in other states, he said. He can focus on other states.
I’m just trying to understand why a presidential candidate has to submit 10,000 signatures to be on the ballot.
Why not 107,321?
Why not 1,000?
