In an interview with Leslie Gelb in Newsweek, Vice President Joe Biden says:
"Look, the Taliban per se is not our enemy. Thats critical. There is not a single statement that the president has ever made in any of our policy assertions that the Taliban is our enemy because it threatens U.S. interests. If, in fact, the Taliban is able to collapse the existing government, which is cooperating with us in keeping the bad guys from being able to do damage to us, then that becomes a problem for us."
Via Ben Smith. Interestingly, in the rest of the interview on foreign policy, Biden and Gelb never discuss that just a few years ago they co-wrote a proposal to partition Iraq into three separate nations. Fortunately, their advice was ignored at the time. And Biden this time only says he would "look for" an "Iraq united."
Beyond sane. bidet’s head is among the first that would be separated should the taliban be given the opportunity.
Both feet should be shoved down his throat! Idiot man.
Unf—king believable.
No, indeed...and they’re not trying to kill us, either. It’s those little bitty lead thingies they’re shooting at us that are trying to kill us. Thanks for the input, Joe.
He’s right. This administration only talks about one group as “the enemy” and only ever talks about “fighting” against that one group.
That group, of course, is the Conservatives — the ones who insist that the Constitution is the law of the land.
Especially since the two statements (second sentence wraps up the first statement) in quotes contradict one another. Yet let's take the first one at face value. If they're not our enemy then 1) Why are they fighting us, and 2) What does Biden have to say to the families of our military personnel killed in Afghanistan?
It scares the hell out of me that this assclown is one step away from the White House!
This is the kind of word-play you get when a political party is out of ideas and can’t hide it any more.
Lawyers trying to move the goalposts to make their failure look like a path to success. Wordplay and rhetoric got them where they are, and they think it will get them out of trouble.
When Republicans try this, the whole state-run media rises up in one voice to point out the folly.
When Democrats do it, the media cheers, or, at best, stays silent. Those who point out the folly are accused of nit-picking.
He is, this time, correct...The real enemy (A true mortal danger to our national security.) resides in the WH...
Well, looks like Obama's going to sign a treaty with the Taliban.
Thanks 2ndDivisionVet. And now we know the only consequence from the execution of bin Laden — besides the retributive murders of our Navy Seals, thanks to Zero and Biden.
Then who are the "bad guys" that he's talking about?
Has he fallen and hit his head on a coffee table?
He should get checked out.
Well, what would you expect him to say. His boss is one.
ROFL...so true
