Slate ^ | 12.15-2011 | David Weigel

Posted on 12/15/2011 2:11:10 PM PST by SonofReagan

It started when the mayor of Merrifield, New Hampshire, tweeted that he'd gotten a robo-poll asking about a possible Jeb Bush presidential campaign. It's continued, with random granite state citizens getting the same calls. One of them sent over the gist of questions received last night. (These aren't direct quotes, but paraphrases.

Hmmmmm, it appears the RINO establishment is getting nervous that Mitt can’t get above 25% no matter how hard they hit Newt and anyone else who dares to challenge him. Looks like they are sending out feelers in case Plan A fails. Maybe Jeb is Plan B.

No more Bushes, No more RINOs

Man, when is the GOP gonna get a clue?

Independents will stay away from anything named Bush....and evangeicals will stay home because of Jeb’s weak handling of Terri Schiavo murder

Plan B? I’m calling that plan Triple X, and I am not amused!

I’m not taking you to task by the way.

I thought Jeb Bush was better than W. W got the nod because the family said that, since he was the elder brother, it was his turn.

But I agree. NO MORE BUSHES. For one thing, Jeb is a very strong believer in total amnesty for every Latino in the world. If anything, he is worse than W, and W was bad enough.

Man, when is the GOP gonna get a clue?

Never. That's why most CONSERVATIVES have abandoned the appropriately named ESTABLISHMENT Republicans for the Tea Party. The ESTABLISHMENT Republican Party has veered so far from its conservative roots that it just can't be called a conservative politocal party anymore.

. . . . evangeicals will stay home because of Jeb’s weak handling of Terri Schiavo murder

I think that this is an unfair characterization of Jeb. He did the best he could to try to save Terri but was thwarted by a demented judge determined to see her murdered at all costs.

Jeb was prepared to dispatch the state police to take Terri to safety but Judge Greer (may he rot in a hot place for all time!!) threatened to deploy the local police force to keep the state police from taking her. Jeb, fearing the spectacle of police forces shooting at each other and the additional violence that might cause, reluctantly called the state police off. The standoff was simply one that he could not win without the possibility of inciting anarchists.

It was a lose-lose situation and I find it interesting that many people blame Jeb for her murder than the demented Judge Greer or her so-called "husband", Michael.

I agree. I think Jeb fought hard to save her life. You have to face that the law clearly put Terry’s “husband” in the spot to decide her destiny.

She had a lot of physical issues. I know that for a fact. Not eating can do horrible things to you. If she feared her husband, she could have appointed someone else to make decisions for her in a life threatening situation.

So, take heed folks, if you don’t trust your spouse, don’t give him/her the authority to pull the plug.

I’m hardly promoting Jeb. We’ve had enough Bushes, thank you. But this argument is pointless.

Maybe not.
