The FDA has issued a proposed mandate that represents the greatest threat to dietary supplements since 1994. Back in the early 1990s, consumers were so alarmed by FDA bullying that they staged a massive revolt. The result was that Congress passed a law prohibiting the FDA from banning popular nutrients (as the agency had threatened to do).
There was, however, a loophole in the 1994 law. The FDA was given authority to regulate ingredients introduced after October 15, 1994.
It has been 17 years, but the FDA just issued draconian proposals as to how it intends to regulate what it now calls new dietary ingredients. You can find the FDA Draft Guidance on New Dietary Ingredients (NDIs) here. If implemented, some of the most effective nutrients you are taking will be removed from the market. This includes many fish oil formulas and natural plant extracts. A detailed analysis of the FDA Draft Guidance is available here.
These oppressive rules are exactly what the 1994 law (DSHEA) sought to prevent. The FDA is using its authority in direct violation of Congressional intent.
In order for these ingredients you are using today to return to the market, the FDA will require manufacturers to conduct outrageously expensive studies using absurdly high doses, in some situations multiplied by a safety factor up to 2,000-times the recommended dosage on a per product basis.
The FDA defines dietary supplements as being new if they were introduced after October 15, 1994. That means that even certain nutrients that have been safely used over the course of three decades will be subject to the FDAs oppressive policies that mandate costly animal testing.

Hey I didn’t start this, but I finished it.
If they can make female silencers then I just found the perfect Christmas gift for my wife. Doh! I hope she don’t read this!
Okay, I won’t worry. If I have to shoot someone breaking in my house, I want the noise to be realllly, realllly, loud.
psst - I have steel wool pads if ya need some. Don’t tell anyone else, but Walmart has bunches of them in the paint section. Better rush right over...
I needed one 0000 pad to remove a really small white spot on top of my lovely dining table. I didn’t know I was violating a gun law when I removed that white spot. They need to raid every Walmart store.
This is ridiculous.
In the '90s they tried this and the letter campaign of protest was the biggest since the Vietnam war. That old oddball Orin Hatch was a hero in it too as he took up the torch and killed the legislation almost singlehandedly. I wonder if he will stand against it this time?
Are they going to ban tennis balls, too?
Meant my last post to be for all of you as I know you need those pads.
If you take vitamins, buy enough to get you through the next election, then a Republican President can stop this craziness.
LOL!
I intend to start stocking up on scrubber tomorrow!
Scrubbers to wash my dishes, that is.

Answer: None
Now lets look at how many people die a year from Pharmaceutical drugs?
Answer: 265 thousand
This is nothing but Big Pharma through the corrupt government trying to control the people with there deadly and poisonous drugs.
Why should people not be able to judge what is best for them? Big Pharma knows people are taking care of their selves with fish oils, vitamins, etc... and it's cutting into their profit.
Land of the free??? My a$$
It's time to shut down all of these extra-constitutional agencies. They've become a fourth branch of government, and the bureaucrats who run them are essentially writing laws that affect everyone's lives.
This has got to stop.
I remember the fight in ‘94 - and the SWAT Teams raiding health food stores.
I'm an ole great granny now, but I'll be double dam*ed if they're gonna take my plants ans supplements without a fight.
For example, I gather Valerian and St. Jon's Wort from the fields - whadda they gonna do, put leg locks on me to keep from leaving my property?
as*hats
They can’t do anything, don’t you understand they only have one third of the control, yada, yada, yada. Once you understand the pubbies have the same agenda it gets easier to stomach.
Good Grief!!! What next??
So I’m gonna have to start buying my Vitamin C from an underground source and face prison time for possession?
And..when I’m busted, they will find my stock pile of incandescent bulbs. I’m doomed...doomed I tell ya.
“Scrubbers to wash my dishes, that is.”
Sure they’re to wash your dishes - guess that’s your story and you’re sticking to it - right?
Of all the people I don’t know, I trust you the less with scrubbers. :)
“Do you have more than 7 days worth of food in the house?

You don’t even want to know what I have - based on the above, I’m toast. I’m a female Rawles - does that give you a hint?
