NAPLES, FL -- Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich defended his immigration policy after days of criticism from other GOP contenders reiterating that he does not support amnesty -- on Friday night before his largest crowd yet on the campaign trail.
"I am not for amnesty for anyone. I am not for a path to citizenship for anybody who got here illegally," Gingrich told the crowd of roughly 750 people, many of whom were forced to stand in the hallway...........
"I think the vast majority [of illegal immigrants] will go home and should go home and then should reapply. I do not think anybody should be eligible for citizenship,".....

Yeah, don’t you love the $5000 fine nonsense? These progressives have tried floating this one before.
Okay, so we let them stay, then what? Who enforces the payment of the fine? What if they refuse to pay it? Are they arrested? Encarcerated?
Let’s see, we can’t go round them up and put them on a deportation bus, but officers are going to knock on their doors demanding $5000?
As you — or perhaps another poster — said upthread, they think we’re stupid.

" Do you really think that if Gingrich got his wish to legalize the illegals but not give them citizenship, there would not be an immediate push to then make them citizens, because, after all, how can you deny 20 million plus residents the right to vote? "
BINGO !
That their plan, to gradually desensitize us into capitulating, for there will be mass protests and demonstration and all the ( Realitive Moralism: got to let their relitives stay here too of they been here 25 years : sarcasm ) of how we are immoral not letting them vote..
You see ? it first starts out, letting them sneak in in the first plane, and then ? " ohh well, there's 20 million of them, can't do nothing about them going back now, water under the bridge, the horses have left the barn and it's to late to close the barn door ).
Then ? " ohhh well, might as well make them citizens " .
Then ? ohh you mean heartless people, why don't you let them vote, after all, they have rights too as citizens.
You see people ? that's how it's going, going down the slippery slope.
Just like school prayer, one days someone say that prayer should be taken out of schools, then ? all religions are equal, them ? remove God or all references of God out of America... that's how the progressives do it, one step at a time gradually..

As far as requiring them to be here for a certain period of time to qualify to be allowed to live here legally...when the last amnesty was given there was a requirement that the illegal had lived here (I think it was 20 years) problem was illegals just obtained false documents showing they had been here the required time- had employers, neighbors, people on the street writing that they had rented from them, worked for them, ect. It was a sham and illegals that were newly arrived were given citizenship. The document sham is one reason so many more were given amnesty than was planned for. Illegals know they can sham our system, that is why anytime anyone of note mentions even the possiblity of an amnesty type plan illegals flood across the border. They know if they are here when any plan to legalize illegals happens they can jump on the wagon. No matter what the requirements would be, illegals would produce them- real or not. Illegals have already proven they refuse to follow our laws, why do so many believe that they will not break laws to qualify for some sort of legalization?

I guess if you had 3 people shot to death in your neighborhood in the last year 1/2 and see drug lords in your neighborhood and illegals you might have a different perspective about the illegals....
To: TitansAFC
All the people who are soft on illegals and are in favor for this Newt plan, why don't they come and visit the neiborhood I live in and live in a crime ridden neiborhood every day where you got to duck bullets getting to your car, or worry if your mother will be the next victim of either the druggies robber her of her money or just plan shooting her because they feel like it.
Why don't they come to my neighborhood and see all the illegals all over the place.... that's the reality I got to live with every single day here....
Ohh yeah, I know I will get the snug reaction " why don't you just move out ? " .... ohhh really ? are you serious ? where we have put down our own roots in this neighborhood and been living here for 22 years and we are natural born US citizens ?
Ohh, it's easy to be critical and view this from a far distance in your nice safe gated community where you don't have to deal with this every day or look at it from afar.
Put your self in my shoe, got to worry if your going to make it to your car just going to the store without ducking bullets or going to be the next victim in my neighborhood.
It once was a nice place to live not so long ago.
I want the crime and the illegals out and deported...

It looks like the liberal media want Gingrich as well by the treatment they are giving him, CNN is absolutely in love with him, for now. But if he wins the nomination then it's gloves off.
To: Steelfish
If Gingrich is the Republican nominee this is the surest ticket to an Obama landslide.

You are probably right, I can’t disagree. I don’t think he can overcome his baggage. When the time comes, I will vote for the best conservative that the polls show has the best chance of beating the Marxist Muslim Kenyan usurper, Barry Hussein Soetoro.

Who enforces the payment of the fine? No one because they'll make sure to put in the law a hardship clause that will be so vague that it can interpreted any which way the executive branch wants to.

GOP Debate: Newt Gingrich Admits 1986 Amnesty Failed, But Would Do it Again Newt is for amnesty and in June 2011 Debate Newt Gingrich called Americans Heartless for wanting to deport 20 million illegals.
"GINGRICH: No, but let me say this, John. No serious citizen who's concerned about solving this problem should get trapped into a yes/no answer in which you're either for totally selling out protecting America or you're for totally kicking out 20 million people in a heartless way. There are -- there are humane, practical steps to solve this problem, if we can get the politicians and the news media to just deal with it honestly."

Flashbacks McCain? You just wait until he really really starts attacking Obama.
I doubt he will because of race so instead he'll attack the (wink) party.
Another stinking COWARD!
This asshat is relishing the attention and will say anything to keep
the ball in play and the money flowing.
Hell No Newt.

I never have deliberately broken a law. Strange as it may seem to someone like you, I keep to the speed limit. Makes life simpler that way.
Over the last 25 years, I have been in the USA legally, and when I filled out my last job application, I correctly checked YES in the “are you a citizen” field. That’s 25 years of not committing a felony.
An illegal alien cannot say that.

No it’s not. Look where the majority of the supposed fleeing are going, and it isn’t back over the border. You’ve tried to conflate two very different scenarios. When Alabama passes their strict laws, the surrounding states remain not as strict so the illegals move there. If the US starts the cattle ars running South (and that’s what it will take to acxcomplish what the hate-filled demand in short order for 20 or 30 million men women and children), it is not anything like the current situation with Alabama and surrounding less strict laws. But I can see why you want to mischaracterize the perspective.

And we welcome from one American to another American.
Those who have come here by going through the proper process and legally tend to be outstanding , law abiding, happy to be American citizens and are productive and ad much value to our country... and we are happy you are here....
