If the health committee decides not to bill Medicare for the procedure, and the patient cannot afford to pay his own money, then won’t the so-called “comfort care” be inevitable, unless the surgeon does the procedure pro bono?

We should make sure that when we talk about "killing" that we're using the word in the same sense.

Administering a euthanasia drug is killing, no doubt about it, I've always opposed that.

Denying basic life sustaining care a la Schiavo is killing too, and I've always opposed that.

But when a government health plan (or a private insurer, they do it all the time too) determines that their financial reserves will not allow for a $100,000 drug or surgical procedure to be given to everyone who might possibly see a slight improvement as a result....

well, if you call that "killing", we are going to diverge in our opinions.

If we conservatives accept and endorse the right of a private insurance company to make coverage decisions based on cost and actuarial results (and I think we do), but at the same time support the idea that the government plans should deny nothing to anyone, regardless of the cost or perhaps marginal benefit, we are playing right into the hands of the single-payer advocates.

A fully privatized system will see just as many old people dying.

Someone who is 90+, with several strokes and AMI's in the chart, will be unable to purchase any private policy at less than a mid-six-figure amount.

Two policies that...
Two groups of people are exempt from that on govenment-subsidized programs; The first one is Congress is exempt, and illegal aliens are exempt from ALL of the health care mandates.

Levin: Well why would illegal aliens be exempt?

who they're going to pay and who they're going to charge. But they are specifically listed out as exempt from the mandate, or the individual mandates
