Hosted by the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute, the theme of tonight's Republican presidential debate is foreign policy and national security.
The debate is being held at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
CNN is carrying the debate live at 8 p.m. EST.
Participating candidates are: businessman Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Reps. Ron Paul (TX) and Michele Bachmann (MN), former Gov. Jon Huntsman, and former Sen. Rick Santorum.
Mexico needs the kick in the nuts plan.
And I have always said so.
The Gov is a corrupt POS.
The posts I pay attention to are those where they are truly attempting to find the truth about what's being stated about a candidate...and have something informative to say or an opinion which might clarify a candidates statement. Too often just sound bites are used.I agree. I have read probably 80% of the comments posted about the debate, and I think it was another good debate for all the Republican candidates.
Thank you for your post. CW
What does that mean? They can't get where?
Overrun with illegals voting Dem.. going your way... you are lost way before I am buddy.
YEs, Bachman had her spin doctors already out reporting NEWT”S FOR AMNESTY - while they were all still n the hall!
She is dishonest and snide - either on on her own behalf or shilling for Mitt -
She’s getting transparent
Oh, and they stuff the audience with Paulistas ... every stinking debate is stuffed with Paulistas. What in the hell is up with that?
“Faulty logic! Newt will bring the lefties out of the woodwork to vote against him. The lefties hate him more than other candidates.
The republican turn out on the other hand will be pretty much the same no matter if Newt, Cain or Perry are the nominee.”
I think the “hate” for Newt on the left has died down somewhat given the passage of time. Obama is behind the eight ball and knows he can’t run on his record. He therefore has concluded that he must go extremely negative to win. Note how the leading liberal mouthpieces are already preparing the electorate for this upcoming strategy. So their strategy is to maximize the vote of their base and peel off independents at the margin by scaring them with lies.
Given the coming lies and negativity, it will be very important to have candidate that can eloquently call a spade a spade - just like Newt did when the moderator in one of the recent debates pre-supposed the validity of his implicit assumption that the war on terror was a matter of the “rule of law”. Before answering, Newt made everyone aware that the underlying premise of his question was false. Most of the other candidates would have taken the question at face value and dived into their answer, which in effect gives credence to the lie contained within the question.
I think Newt is probably the candidate best able to cut through the coming lies and negativity.
I turn off the debates and CNN and went to CSPAN.
I heard for the first time a Gentleman named David M. Walker, the Founder and CEO of the Comeback America Initiative. Also one time served as United States Comptroller General from 1998 to 2008
For the first time since President Reagan I finally heard what I have been wanting to hear for years.
Term limits for all politicians, true reduction in spending, campaign reforms including unless you are eligible to vote you cannot contribute to a campaign or politician, limit a person from using more than a certain amount of his/her own money (eliminating buying yourself into office), etc.
I just wish more people had heard him. He has some great ideas for this country.

So maybe you will be so kind as to explain what Mylife meant when he said they’ll “go to the back of the line”.
What line? Where is that line? What will become of those who get in that line?
I am sorry folks. Cain sounds like a waffler.
If Israel had a plan... and if I had a plan... If I had clarity on the terrain on Iran...
“Romney is the 2nd best debater but is who the democrats want to face”
They want to face off against Romney for a host of reasons. Romney’s a weenie who’s had it easy so far. He can run but he can’t hide. Tonight for a minute he started to get that old familiar deer in the headlights look he did so often before (and will again, when faced with BHO) whenever he’s seriously challenged or skillfully contradicted.
He’d get seriously rattled when facing BHO and the Dem machine. He showed that often in the ‘08 primary debates and I don’t believe he’s magically gotten better.
I’d put Newt and Cain up against an unscripted BHO before Romney, although he does have the looks of Central Casting for a president.
I know a way to legislatively fix the problems wihtin four years, but everything is predicated on closing the border FIRST.
Newt was showing the real ability to lead on immigration.
We’re not talking about laws, but about various proposals of what should be done with the illegals already here. And you’ve used that often used phrase where the illegals already here would “got to the back of the line”.
But no one ever explains what line, or where it is, and what would be come of those who went to the back of that line.
That’s the only point of yours I addressed and you have not yet clarified what going to the back of the line means.
N00b, you deport the bread winner in a family and what do you leave behind? Think, troll, think.
What can they do? RATs control the Senate.
Are you telling me that neither the Financial Services Committee nor the Intelligence Committee have passed out any bills to the bodies?
Whether they have or not, she has listened to months and months of deeply intense and dry testimony on various bills. This has given her the opportunity to become an expert on many facets of these two very critical areas of national interest.
I can’t disagree with you on that point. The Newt-hate was very potent during the 90’s. Lot of young lefties do not know that. Listen, I am voting for the republican nominee in general, period. I hate Obama that much. In primaries, every one should be allowed to support their choice without much rancor.
Newt just said something pretty smart about Iran.
They only have one refinery.
Weak point on Iran.
Just to make this very clear for you, here's the issue:
You treat Hispanics broadly like cattle and legal Hispanics will crawl over broken tequila bottles to vote for any democrat. Is that clear enough for you?
That is because it is a convoluted federal bucket of crap
