Thanksgiving is just around the corner so I thought it would be fun for people to share their favorite recipes. I think this is the 3rd or 4th annual thread.
Take one and/or leave one. ;o)
Yo!
I’m here my FRiend.. It’s fun to be back on the battlefield.. I’ve got your back.. hahahahaha
Ha! Ha! Ha! Sounds fishy to me!
Homemade IS best, though.
Excellant...
I miss all the competition on Freep...just wanted to get a recipe war started!!!
BTW..Marie Callander’s Frozen Turtle Pie ( takes an hour to thaw out) is THE BEST~~~~~!I tell everyone I made it. ..and then put it in this little tin pan. ha.
2 boxes chopped spinach
1 can mushroom soup
1 small jar jalepeno cheese
1/4 cup chopped onion
Bread crumbs
Cook spinach as directed. Saute onions. Add soup & cheese until cheese melts. Add spinach. Mjx and pour into casserole.
Sprinkle with crumbs.
Bake about 20-30 minutes.
You can fry leftover mashed potatoes by adding a little chopped onion, a little milk and make little patties and fry. They’re better than mashed potatoes.
Sweet Potato Casserole
4 1/2 pounds sweet potatoes
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup chopped pecans
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows
Bake sweet potatoes at 400° for about 1 hour or until tender. Let cool to touch; peel and mash sweet potatoes. Beat mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, and next 5 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Spoon potato mixture into a greased 11- x 7-inch baking dish. Combine cornflakes cereal and next 3 ingredients in a small bowl. Sprinkle diagonally over casserole in rows 2 inches apart.
Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Remove from oven; let stand 10 minutes. Sprinkle alternate rows with marshmallows; bake 10 additional minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Glazed Sweet Potato Casserole
6 medium sweet potatoes (about 3 1/2 lbs)
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 teaspoons grated orange rind
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup chopped pecans
Cook sweet potatoes in boiling water to cover for 20 to 25 minutes or until fork-tender. Let cool to the touch; peel and cut into 1/2-inch round slices. Arrange the slices in a lightly greased 12x8x2 inch baking dish; set aside. Combine the remaining ingredients, except the pecans, in a saucepan. Mix well. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to boil. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thickened and is bubbly. Pour over the sweet potatoes. Sprinkle with pecans. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours. Remove dish from refrigerator; let stand 30 minutes. Uncover and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until heated. Makes 8 servings.
I think I found this recipe in Southern Living magazine a number of years ago (probably 20 or more).
I haven't made this in a long time, I'd love to make it again but I'm the only sweet potato eater in my family!
Don't know where you've been, but glad to see you back here. (And yeah, I wondered if you had died or something) You were missed.
Smootch back at ya!
Hope all is well with you and the fam. I know Thanksgiving is your favorite day and bet your putting in late nights getting ready.
Thanks for telling me about the turtle pie. I don’t think I’ve seen it in the stores we frequent (Dollar General, Save A Lot). I’ll look closer next time we go to Walmart; or try Kroger and Food Lion. - I generally don’t care for any sort of meat in pies; but like the mincemeat ones, will have to get over the “turtle” thing. Have had turtle soup once when husband caught a big snapping turtle in our pond.
It is an Oreo cookie crust, chocolate mouse filling with caramel and pecans....TO DIE FOR!!!!
