Newt is back: How Gingrich vs. Obama became the GOP's dream matchup
The Baltimore Sun ^ | 11-17-2011 | Jonah Goldberg

He's baaack!

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is back in the saddle after falling off his horse at the starting line. At least according to one poll (Public Policy Polling), Mr. Gingrich is actually the GOP front-runner.

Many say it's simply Mr. Gingrich's turn to be the not-Mitt contender, now that Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry and Herman Cain have had their chances.

But that's not entirely fair. Speaker Gingrich has been relentlessly seducing GOP voters in the debates. Mitt Romney may have been winning on points and technicalities, but Mr. Gingrich has been consistently winning the crowds.

The arrogant little Won will likely be afraid to show up, even when he’s given his soft ball questions ahead of the debate.

Look, I think we’ll be fortunate to have our election. I think there’s a genuine possbility that these Occupy’s are a warm-up to anarchy for late next summer and that the Marxist would love to call for Martial Law.

I don't remember the details, but I saw a story the other day about how people like Newt lobby without ever having to register as a lobbyist and it was all legal.

You've gotta love Republicans. Both Bill Frist and Bob Dole are currently pushing ObamaCare. Anything for a buck; capitalism at its zenith.

Newt said the Obama refuses to debate, he will follow him where ever he goes and give a speech 4 hours after Obama. The debates will happen.

Good idea. Let's hear Newt address global warming in his own words:

Comment pointing to his honesty regarding global warming at minute 7:40 and following http://sheya.com/2011/11/08/newt-gingrich-on-special-report-center-seat

We are not talking about his family, his sex life or his religion.

We are talking about his record, which is well documented..

So tell me how discussing the record is bashing?

I was taught that if you don’t want people to talk about it, don’t do it.

Let me put it this way: If Newt is the barrier between Romney and the nomination, count me all in for Newt.

Not one vote has been cast, but by the time the primary is held in my state (March) my vote will likely be meaningless.

My thoroughbred didn’t run. I’m prettymuch emotionally detahced, save for the fact that I am totally against Romney.

I met and personally got to speak with Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich and Romney.

ALL of the first four would be one heck of a lot better than the Marxist.

Laughing!

Not too keen on Newt or any of them, but that’s a darn good reason!

I think Newt has a pretty good command of our English language that voters understand.

I’m not going to spend my time worrying about him.

:)

That was not aimed at you, it was aimed at the professional Newt Bashers.

As for Newt record the only record I care about is how the man governed when he was in power. He was by far the most conservative speaker of the House in my life time. He kept his promises CWA, he shut down the federal government twice battling Bill Clinton over the budget and he balanced the budget and reformed welfare. Seems like a pretty good record to me.

I see so your psychology is no one is allowed to make an income at all?

You do realize he owned or was 1 of the principles of a corporation known as “Newt Inc “ and they were doing a million or more dollars a year so now thats not allowed? Only demoncrats are allowed to make money working for Uncle Sam?
I guess Boeing must fold up its blanket, an all the members of congress whose wives work in different companies have to quit?
Are you really that naive? Or just a democrat hiding in a conservative t-shirt????

lots there

For one thing, Gingrich pioneered a denial of adultery that some observers would later christen
“the Newt Defense”: Oral sex doesn’t count. In a revealing psychological portrait of the “inner”
Gingrich that appeared in Vanity Fair (September 1995), Gail Sheehy uncovered a woman, Anne Manning,
who had an affair in Washington in 1977 with a married Gingrich.

“We had oral sex,” Manning revealed. “He prefers that modus operandi because then he can say,
‘I never slept with her.’” She added that Gingrich threatened her: “If you ever tell anybody about this,
I’ll say you’re lying.”

As nice as it would be to have someone who knows what he’s talking about in there, I just don’t see “President Newt Gingrich” happening.

Now sure how Newt would do in an election after all the pounding he would receive. However one thing is certain - Newt would completely humiliate the boy in the WH. The competence factor would come into play and the contrast would be astounding ... but only if Newt was able to discipline himself and NOT get cocky. Likability is almost equally important and Newt could squander the competence factor

I fear that the OWS movement is a preview of what will happen if the election is close. That’s why the margin of GOP victory must be beyond the margin of electoral theft.

Newt ain’t my first choice, but I’d sure love to tap him as the designated-debater against Obama. He’d make Barry cry like a little girl.

I don't believe all this hype but, Obama would be spanked like the red headed step child he is, in any debate with Gingrich. Hell, if it were PPV I pony up $25 to watch the smack down.

I've met Romney a few times and heard him speak several times. I get less and less impressed each time. Can't trust him.
