The death toll in Saturday's explosion at military base outside of Tehran rose to 36 on Thursday, according to Iranian media figures assembled by Agence France Presse on Thursday. The number is more than twice the revised figure reported by the Revolutionary Guards after the story broke on Saturday.
AFP based its figures on the names of the victims, one of whom was General Hassan Moqaddam of the Guards' missile programme. Iran originally said the blast was an accident, but later jumped on a bandwagon of sources blaming Israel for the explosion.

Mistake to underestimate enemies. Ask the French how well the Maginot line worked. Iranians are an entirely different animal from Arabs, neither of whom are dummies, but the Iranians even less so. Psychotic, yes. Dumb, no. I would hope they blow themselves to kingdom come, but a doable battle plan must be devised in the likely event that they know exactly what they’re doing.

How should we view the death of 36 Iranians due to this blast? A good start?
Sounds like some of those industrial accidents in Syria a couple of years ago.
Obozo should loan our OSHA thugs to Iran to investigate this accident.

In the ME, there are no ‘accidents’..............
The Iranians did fairly badly against the Iraqis in the 80’s.
They had them outnumbered 2:1, up to 3:1 at times, and still exhausted themselves and lost.
And that was when the Iranians were mostly still enthusiastic about their revolution and the mullahs.
That was also when Khomeini was radically remaking society in accordance with his vision, including purges of senior officers and such. Same thing happened with Stalin’s purges. The result was a humiliatingly badly bungled campaign in Finland, which emboldened Hitler to invade Russia.
