Cain was very revealing as to just how inexperienced and inept he truly is. He did a terrible job and merely parroted what Newt and Romney said mostly. He is clearly winging it and has no clue how or what it means to be the President.

Perry was funny, made great headway with the audience and also held his own quite well.

The winner of the debate was Gingrich, absolutely hands down, and he handed the arrogant Media putz his ass on a platter, when the fool tried to correct Newt about the legality of killing an American Citizen fighting against the United States in a foreign country. Newt was brilliant.

Romney was also very good and truly connected with the audience on several issues of national defense and security. Particularly on the subject of China.

Both Romney and Gingrich gave a strong image of being a competent Commander in Chief I would feel comfortable with either of them if it came down to it.

Perry was much better than Cain, but not nearly as good as Newt or Romney, Santorum sounded like a complete amateur and at times a borderline idiot. Bachmann is a very smart woman and is very well versed on the war in the middle east, but she is just not Presidential material. She would do fine in a cabinet position though.

L.Ron Paul needs to get back to Sunny Brook Farm and soon. His straight Jacket must be getting too big for him, because he keeps on slipping out of it for longer periods with every new debate.

It's time for the field to be reduced to 4 and soon. And maybe narrow it down to just one or two more debates......Please!

Disagree, completely. Several things Cain said were "borrowed" by others, afterwards.

Is he up to speed as all the other career politicians? No. Can he be? Time (and now much money) will tell.

I love that there isn’t a single debate in which Newt doesn’t serve some media moron’s head on a platter, last one Botoroma, this one Scott Pelley. (No need to check name spellings.)

Newt is batting 1000!

Newt does come off very well in these formats.

I think he'd make an excellent press secretary.

You'd be comfortable with Romney as president? May I remind you that you're posting on FR?

Good assessment, I think. Cain was embarrassing to watch, and Paul, Huntsman and Santorum should just stop cluttering up the stage.

Bachmann was pretty good on a couple of things and her presentation has improved; I could see her in a Cabinet position, as you suggest, because she seems to get the big picture but at the same time she knows the details. Even Romney, whom I do not like at all, seemed better; he is obviously trying to sound more conservative, which is probably not to be believed, but at least he had coherent answers for the questions. Perry did surprisingly well, although I didn’t need the occasional campaign pitches he interjected. Gingrich, on the other hand, was excellent all the way through. Really excellent.

Considering that Cain was asked the very FIRST question and Perry, Gingrich and Santorum agreed with him, I'd say your observation is pfffft. :)

Cain was asked the first question, and others copied HIS response, so I have no idea what you are talking about. Everyone knows (and Cain has admitted) he knows NOTHING about this subject, while Newt knows everything, so given those expectations, each did just fine. Newt did screw up by detailing proposed covert actions in Iran, and then saying they could all be "DENIABLE". That sort of arrogant, unfiltered outburst is what concerns me about Newt in the long haul.
