Texas Gov. Rick Perry says America should extend work visas to allow illegal immigrants to move freely between the U.S. and their home countries _ but opposes a path to citizenship.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and ICE Director John Morton revealed that in fiscal year 2010, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enforcement numbers climbed to historic high numbers. This surge included a 500% increase in penalties from worksite enforcement actions, a nearly two-fold increase in I-9 audits (2,200), a record-breaking 180 criminal prosecutions of employers and the debarring of more than 97 businesses (compared to 30 last FY). Average fines exceeded $110,000.">
The only thing I feel silly about is wasting my time thinking I was having a conversation with someone who was serious. You want to surrender the Rio Grande to Mexico but make it ok because you can put in a pipe.
Fine the Illegal, not the US Citizen.
Maybe you don’t, I shouldn’t jump to conclusions like that. Sorry.
No you do not get fined. The whole idea is that as long as you used E-verify, which only determines if the ID info matches the SS records, then you’re off the hook if an illegal get’s by you.
Further, you can’t use e-verify until after you have hired the person and the person can’t be fired until an appeals process is complete. That protects people who are not illegals but had a problem with their info matching (like a woman got married but didn’t notify ss of her new name, etc.)
“I will do some reading on the matter, But it looks to be like the Fed is screwing Joes Garage.. and sloughing of their duty on private citizens under fiscal penalty. “
Seems rather heartless of them. I’m sure Governor Perry will fix it...
But why is the onus on US Businesses?
“The only thing I feel silly about is wasting my time thinking I was having a conversation with someone who was serious. You want to surrender the Rio Grande to Mexico but make it ok because you can put in a pipe. “
And you want OPEN BORDERS with Mexico. They can have the damn river - we have pipes, so we’ll get our share of the water. As for rafting, I prefer to do that at safer locations.
Gnight gang.
Thanks for the chin wag.
look up in the thread, it’s been posted.
It is illegal to hire someone not present in the country legally.
E-verify is a free tool to help employers comply with the law.
E-verify takes the onus of determining whether a person can legally be hired off the business and puts it on the FEDS.
Perry is a total idiot for saying and advocating this. I am sure he must remember, or at least be aware of, the old Brasseros program.
Some people, given a choice between "building a fence" and "securing the border" will choose "build the fence".
Even where it's a bad idea.
Like along a river passing through an arid to semi-arid area.
For guidance, perhaps we should check out how the Israelis secure the River Jordan border between Jordan and the West Bank.
It's not a fence. It's a series of armed outposts, connected by a road.
Blocking access to a river coursing through a semi-arid landscape will inconvenience only your own citizens. While enabling the citizens of the country on the opposite bank.
I merely pointed out your hypocrisy you are giving a pass to Palin for being for a path to citizenship for illegal aliens, while bashing Perry for giving them work visas without a path to citizenship.
It's what VP running mates do.
You can post Palin's interview with Univision until you're blue in the face, but the fact is, she was stating John McCain's position on the matter - not her own.
Pull up some of Palin's statements about illegal immigration, after she left the McCain campaign. World of difference.
No, it places a fine of over 110K on average, on the American businessman.
And the Feds will tell us when we are in compliance or violation for a matter that is THEIR JOB.
Perry proposes the same plan.
You cant waste time out in the Negev desert.
I haven’t picked blueberry for 4c a pint in a very long time.
I recall when I was a child, the migrants would come to Ohio to pick the crop that even us kids didn’t want to deal with.
I don’t recall any crime or drugs, and the migrants returned home upon completion of harvest.
Something has changed since those days and that something is amnesty.
Perry is not proposing amnesty.
In fact he REJECTS IT
He keeps talking like that, the MSM will drop Mitt and go all out for Rick!
