Georgia businessman Herman Cain, who continues to battle past allegations of sexual harassment, draws the most support nationally for the Republican nomination.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely GOP Primary voters shows Cain with 26% of the vote over former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s 23%. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich draws 14% support, with no other GOP contender reaching double-digits. Thirteen percent (13%) of GOP voters are undecided at this time. As for the rest of the field, Texas Governor Rick Perry picks up eight percent (8%) support, Texas Congressman Ron Paul gets seven percent (7%), both Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman each pick up two percent (2%), while former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum draws support from just one percent (1%).

I've been watching more coverage on CNN and MSNBC than Fox, lately. Even though they have liberal commentators, they're actually MORE objective than the Fox News staff on the republican race.

Slowly, but surely.
Newt is a very smart man. I coulod handle Newt in the White House. Gosh what an improvement that would be over Obama.
I could see myself supporting Newt. The guy has the brains and is a professional. I’m starting to like Newt a lot.
Continues to lead in Rasmussen despite the smears? He’s got teflon.
Big event coming up this Saturday night, in Texas, I believe. Newt vs. Cain head-to-head, Lincoln/Douglas style. I believe C-Span picked it up...
I KNOW Newt is great with long answers - here’s a chance for Herman to show that he can hold his own against a seasoned and well-respected wonk.

Fast forward to Nov. 5th, when presidential aspirants Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain plan to meet in Texas for a one-on-one modified version of those famous debates—a chance, both of their camps say, to get beyond the quick punchlines and pointed questioning of the usual televised presidential debate.
The verbiage may be weightier, but so will the entry fee.
Bleacher seating at the Gingrich/Cain debate, hosted by the Texas Tea Party Patriots at the Woodlands Resort in Houston, costs a cool $200. The next step up, the $500 ticket, gets you “prime seating” and a ticket to the “Nite Cap party after the Debate,” says the group’s website. And for the really high rollers, $1,000 will get you “the best seating in the house for the debate” and “a professional picture taken with the candidates.”
The debate will focus on steps to rein in government spending and fix Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Cash earned from the verbal sparring match will go to support the tea party group’s “mission to organize, educate and inform our citizens regarding public policy, and to support the election of local, state and federal candidates who share our conservative values.”
Depends which poll you read; just saw one that has Perry in the lead far beyond Romney, and Cain is at 5%. Cain is not the answer; he is a typical Republican. Listen to him. He does not hide it. He does not have my vote.
The problem with Newt, you never know which one you’ll get on any given day. Conservative Newt, Liberal Newt or Socialist Newt.
Waaay too inconsistent for me and his history demonstrates it perfectly.
And for those who think they are for Newt, remember who he is!

Can you provide the link to that. That makes me very upset. Cain will be the President of the United States. Perry is way to liberal for our country at this time. Texas needs him there for protection of the illegals....never know what governor will replace him. It could be a Texas Governor who is against illegal aliens unlike Perry.
Cain’s my guy, but I could accept Newt without a fight.
I like Cain as President but would accept Newt as Vice President. I just can get past the 3 marriages (and especially how it happened) to be the top ticket. Newt would not be at all upset to take the second ticket IMHO.
That’s my brother from another mother. Whoever decided to drop these allegations on Cain is kicking themselves right now for their colossal mistake. They thought he’d just go away.
That’s a kind of interesting riddle!
Cain’s Baptist...Myth and Huntsman are Mormons....Perry is some sort of Protestant. Bachmann is a Protestant, too. Paul...don’t know.
That leaves Newt and Santorum. I have to presume you don’t think Santorum’s going to be the nominee.

Election is far from a slam-dunk.
You need to remember that the swing states happen to be states that have been slammed the hardest by this recession. Ohio, Florida, and Nevada especially. That could be good for us or bad for us. It could be good because they are states that have angry voters that arnt going to be very pleased with Obama or incumbents in general. But it could be bad for us if it is perceived that the GOP candidate wants to leave those states out to dry and not have a plan to fix things like unemployment and the mortgage meltdown.
