Sharpton: Republicans Can't 'Use Christianity' Then Vote Against Welfare

Call yourself a Christian? Then you can't oppose whatever welfare programs the Democrats come up with. So in effect argued Al Sharpton on his MSNBC show this evening.
In the course of criticizing House Republicans for having passed a bill reaffirming "In God We Trust" as the national motto, Sharpton somehow equated Christianity with support for the liberal agenda. And although I'm the opposite of an expert on Christian theology, he also came up with a formulation on faith and works that might be surprising to some Protestants.

Charity is the right thing to do, Al, and it is a personal choice, from one’s heart. Being grateful for receiving charity is also the right thing, as opposed to feeling entitled to take from others. Stealing is wrong, even if it is the government that is doing it.

***For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order : if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.***
And Jesus told a parable of a rich ruler who went into a far country but first gave his three servants money to take care of business while he was gone.
Upon his return the first two servants had doubled what the ruler had given them.
The third hid his money in the ground and returned it to the ruler. The servant gets chewed out and the ruler says the servant should have given the money to the exchange bankers so he could receive his money back WITH USERY.
Rather “socialistic” would you say?

The scary thing is that ESPECIALLY in Latin/South America you see this merging of socialist doctrine with the Christian message.
In the US you see this as well in recent times and here you see it in the churches that cater to African-Americans.

Government redistribution steals from productive citizens, bribes institutions, and maintains its welfare dependents in a constant state of poverty. There is nothing Christian about government welfare. It is the very opposite of Christianity. Government welfare is the evil spawn of Satan.

There is irony in all of this too- since the socialist message is generally secular and their sales pitch goes against everything that is fundamentally Christian.

Hey Al, you sanctimonious, lying, criminal yutz! Your incredibly stupid rant, that "
Call yourself a Christian? Then you can't oppose whatever welfare programs the Democrats come up with, " is like saying that a doctor can't be a healer if he doesn't prescribe a drug addict all the Oxycontin that addict wants, since without the dose that will kill him, he'll feel bad without the drug.

Not this Marxist calling himself a Christian again!
Christianity teaches . . .
"For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat." (2 Thessalonians 3:10)
Christianity teaches . . .
"But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel." (1 Timothy 5:8)
In NO passage of Scripture does our Lord make the burden of taking care of families a public tax burden.

Holy mackerel, Al! Give generations fish or teach them how to fish? Go fish.

This is akin to the Jesus was a communist I've already heard from leftists that Jesus was also an "illegal alien" in that His parents fled with Him to Egypt, when He was a baby, to escape the wrath of pharaoh.
