Red State and Free Republic Declare War on Mitt Romney Supporters for Some Reason [JR post 132]
Myth Romney Central ^

Posted on 10/29/2011 8:05:02 AM PDT by mnehring

Edited on 10/29/2011 2:08:48 PM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

The editors at Red State and Free Republic (among others) have had the wool pulled over their eyes. They seem to actually believe the lies originally propagated by supporters of President Obama and, in some cases, even by President Obama himself. Now, for some reason, these editors/moderators are so insecure in their prejudice against Gov. Romney that they ban people who openly support Gov. Romney. Free Republic (mostly because of it’s owner Jim Robinson) has purged all of the Romney supporters they could from the site in two waves of purges over the last few years. The anti-Romney and anti-Mormon bigotry evident at Free Republic now is absolutely sickening.

I haven’t been to Free Republic quite as much as I used to partly because I have been banned from posting. During the 2008 election, Mitt was accepted and lauded by many at Free Republic like he was by most conservatives. One of the best summaries of Gov. Romney’s accomplishments was actually from Free Republic. However, Jim Robinson seemingly fell in love with Sarah Palin and initiated purges of anyone who wouldn’t pledge allegiance to her. A few months back, I tried to make a new account and see if I could post about Gov. Romney’s jobs plan and I was promptly banned and called a few derogatory names implying that I was a Mormon. Besides the fact that I am not Mormon, I can’t for the life of me figure out how a site like that, filled with such hate, can find enough donors to keep it going. When I think of Free Republic, I’m reminded of the scene from Star Wars Episode IV where Luke is warned that he is entering “A Wretched Hive of Scum and Villany”.

Red State has been fairly hostile to Gov. Romney for awhile, but they have crossed into new lows now as well. The guys from WhyRomney.com [3] have been working very hard and diligently to refute some of the many misconceptions about Gov. Romney, and I hope this unfortunate episode won’t dissuade them or anyone else from trying to correct the people endlessly smearing Gov. Romney. What so many of these people who don’t like Gov. Romney don’t seem to realize is that they have been fed reasons to not like Gov. Romney by highly-funded democratic think tanks. It’s abundantly clear now, no matter what Rush Limbaugh says [4], that President Obama is scared to death of facing Mitt Romney [5] in the general election.

If you want to check out the three open letters posted to Red State, you can read the one on mandates and health care here [6], the one about abortion here [7], and the final one on miscellaneous issues here [8] unless Red State removes the posts now that they have cowardly banned the authors of the letters. Also, I’ve saved a screen shot of the admin belittling the efforts of our friends from WhyRomney [9] and giving his/her bogus reason for banning them which you can read here [10] just in case the admin tries to cover his/her tracks in shame. If you want to see how rude Free Republic is without actually subjecting yourself to the hate, just click here [11] for a screen shot of the reason they banned the author of a similar open letter.

I know there are bastions of bigotry against Mormons on other sites besides Free Republic and that Free Republic and Red State aren’t the only sites that have ever banned people they disagreed with, but I’ve concluded that they are the grandparents of this anti-Romney crusade that fortunately seems destined to fail. Some other sites seem predisposed against supporting Mitt, but not at the dangerous level of these two.

The motives of people like Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh [12] to not want Gov. Mitt Romney to be the GOP nominee are easy to understand (hint: they make more money with President Obama in the White House), but I believe many other sites and conservatives are simply following their lead reinforced by the disingenuous people at Red State and the sheltered leader of Free Republic. Most other conservative sites that support candidates other than Mitt at least vow to support Mitt if he is the nominee, but I worry about what is festering at Free Republic and now, Red State. Once our nominee is selected, we will need all hands on deck to defeat President Obama. The members of these two sites should realize how detrimental the actions of their leaders may end up being to the ultimate cause of making President Obama a one-term President. I hope they will ask for their leaders to act in a more responsible fashion.

WELCOME TO FREE REPUBLIC!

Saundra..He isn’t a conservative!
That’s why support for Romney is not welcomed on Jim Robinson’s conservative site.

This is not a government site..It’s privately owned..Free speech does not apply.

That picture was posted at DU several days ago and the responses were pretty funny.

I used to check that site for schadenfreude purposes every once in awhile after a nice conservative victory, but I always felt like I needed a shower after clicking out of there. It's like stopping into a filthy, urine-stenched truck-stop restroom with homos "doing it" in the stalls.

If Mittens is the candidate I propose we all write in “Jim Robinson” as a protest vote. :)

If Mittens is the candidate, I write in SARAH PALIN.

Sorry Jim!

I am confident that Romney could kick Obama’s rear in a debate

???

Didn't you ever see the tapes of Romney debating Ted Kennedy? Romney couldn't move to the left of Kennedy fast enough. The coward was so concerned about what the Boston Globe might say about him, he pandered and caved and waffled and ran away like a scared bunny rabbit. It was truly disgusting. Google up the YouTubes and educate yourself. Romney is a non-starter.

Yes, I have already said that I am writing-in Sarah Palin and LibLieSlayer is doing the same. We know for sure that Sarah Palin will get at least 2 votes in our state and we expect to see our two votes recorded, counted and published!

I have registered to vote here just for 2012’s election and the election for governor next month.

As Jim has clearly defined, this site is not for progressive liberals with an "R" tag, to sell themselves to conservatives. The site is also not for liberals to "debate" their failed views with conservatives.

You have plenty of places for liberals to practice their "free speech". Conservatives on the other hand will be marginalized and banned on those very same spaces. Don't try the liberal tactic of crying about "free speech" to push their agenda. This is a private CONSERVATIVE forum, where conservatives can freely communicate with each other.

How many new conservatives, who thought they were on a conservative forum, have changed their views to go with the liberal views?

agree on Newt, the man would destroy obama in a debate and he looks more and more to be my candidate.

If Romney acted like a true mormon, he would have two or three more wives.

Um, I'm no Romney supporter in any fashion, but the Mormons changed their stance about multiple marriages, so he is a "true" Mormon.

have to say this.
I respect you very much, You disagree with some but never attack ,you disagree with respect and for that you get my respect .

Now as for Romney.
I don’;t trust him, I have no clue where he really stands and it seems he only takes every side of an issue.
As for him being a conservative then there is no way on this earth do I expect him to overturn the insane policy of allowing homosexuals/cross dressers to serve openly.

The man has never took at strong stance on anything and now he tries to tell us he’s a conservative, no chance is he.

I want a proper conservative, a person who will stand on conservative issues, a person who will tell the country how great we have it and how hard work will make us better.

I don’t want a half baked, half arsed candidate who is liberal on social issues like the homosexuals agenda and then call themselves a conservative.
Conservatives stand on social and fiscal matters and that does exclude the phony’s like Hannity who rake in money form our side because some are duped by him.

I didn’t say that it was religious hatred. When I said “playing the religious hatred card”, I meant it in the same vein of people “playing the race card”. Maybe I didn’t word it real well.

People do claim that those that are against Romney hate his religion. I reject that, I think most Romney detractors are against his flip-flopping on issues and the fact that he’s showing himself to be a mooshy-middle progressive who’s trying to walk the line. His views shift depending on who he’s talking to.

You’re wasting your time talking to me about mormonism. I think it’s a total crock but that’s their business. As long as they’re not out killing people and saying that it’s a religious mandate, like islam, I don’t care. Go worship little green rocks and tell the congregation that they need to hand out cheese balls to get right with god for all I care.

Their cluelessness gives me comfort. As long as they think Alan Grayson and Anthony Weiner are the true representatives of the people, I know they will continue their self-righteous march to electoral irrelevance.

I actually respect Dick Morris more than Karl Rove.

Atleast Dick Morris doesn't hide the fact that he's all about selling books.

And in all seriousness, why should we trust Dick Morris when he worked for Bubba?

Karl Rove is nothing more than a mouth piece for RINOs while in my opinion libels true conservatives like Sarah and Cain.

I usually boycott O'Reilly, especially after he attempted to use FR as an example of a "right wing hate site" when his dumb staffers used an article (I posted on) where we railed against an author who was racist. He just used the thread's title and didn't bother to read the posts of FReepers who ALL voiced they were against racism. For that, I never cared for him again.

I will watch Tuesday because I think Herman Cain can take a cane (pun intended) to good ol' Bill.

Another thing that sickens me about O'Reilly is his obsession with the two tools on Comedy Central that he panders to. Why even give them the time of day? Remember the writer's strike? Those two bozos were off the air. I saw one episode of the "Daily Show" and it was nothing more than juvenile sexually propelled drivel. And yet Bill seems to yearn for their support!

At the end of the day Rove, O'Reilly and Morris are all in the same boat, they just want to peddle books to morons who buy into their crap. And they are all infatuated with RINOs!!!

In the 90s Illinois had all Republican elected officials, enter the RINOs, and now the state is controlled by rats who each and everyone try to out do each other in grafting as much cash from the taxpayer as possible.

Since the Rats claimed power I can tell you that there is always road construction somewhere, (to pay off union thugs). Right now my city is torn up to shreds because of road construction it takes 15 minutes longer to get to my dad's because I need to take side streets to avoid needless road construction, and don't you love the oafs holding the "STOP" or "SLOW DOWN" sign making 20 dollars an hour with benefits.

This is the land of Zero!!! For the record I warned FR when I met Zero in 2005 that he'd be POTUS, nobody listened. I voted against him in 2004 and 2008 and will do so once again in 2012.

And guess what Rove, O'Reilly and Dick? I will be voting for Herman Cain :)

On a side note to TheOldLady the ping to the Zot from the Romneybot had me rolling with laughter I really thank you for that! It actually motivated me to get some work done around the house!!!

No need to argue with Romneybots just send them to the VikingKitties and then I can read about it with laughter later :D

Keep up the good work guys, you know the three of you I pinged are huge inspirations to me, and mark my words, Cain will be our nominee. Hey, we took down Gary Condit and Dan Rather! We can take down Myth!!!

I appreciate your kind words and I agree with you wholeheartedly about Romney.

I asked the questions because I am genuinely curious as to what would drive someone on a conservative site to have even a shred of support for someone with his record as governor of Massachusetts, let alone all of the subsequent slime and flip-flopping. The guy is a liberal, pure and simple.

I have no doubt that Romney would be a disaster.

I have always wondered why folks would actually hate Romney more than they hate Obama. It’s very interesting. I think it was gutsy of you to post this but surely you will be deleted before long. Nice try, though.

Saundra, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt in case this hasn't been explained to you. Romney's record is horrible. There's no excuse for it. He governed Massachusetts like a liberal, nominated democrats to the bench as judges, and drove conservatives out of the GOP. His position change to "conservative" miraculously coincided with his desire to run for president. Only truly obtuse people believe that Romney's "conversion" is for real.

Electing a guy like that to be the standard bearer for the supposedly conservative Republican party is not just a bad idea. It's suicide. If by some miracle, he manages to win the presidency (he won't, there will be a conservative 3rd party if he's the candidate) he will attempt to do to the national GOP what he did the Massachusetts GOP. He will put only liberal cronies into leadership positions. He will nominate liberals to the Supreme Court and other important federal judicial positions. He will force Republicans to support very liberal positions on social and fiscal policy. And worst of all, he'll face no Republican opposition. The democrat opposition will only force him farther left. A Romney presidency would be a nightmare of progress for socialism and liberal social policy positions that would cripple the GOP, and possibly destroy it as a force for conservatism.

Compare this to an Obama second term which will face fierce conservative Republican opposition from majorities in the House and probably the Senate as well. The GOP would continue to gain strength as a bastion of conservatism and allow us to elect an actual conservative president in 2016. As distasteful as an Obama second term might be, it is still preferable to Romney as president.

Of course, my preference is for a CONSERVATIVE Republican candidate in 2012. Rick Santorum, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, even Rick Perry would suffice. I will not accept Mitt Romney or any other liberal Republican under any circumstances. I am done voting for liberals.
