Perry’s tax plan strikes chord, one-ups Romney

GRAY COURT, S.C. – Rick Perry, Republican presidential candidate and Texas governor, has released an economic plan full of long-held conservative goals, including personal accounts for Social Security, an optional flat tax, major spending cuts and a series of tax cuts.

The plan would reduce the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 20 percent, eliminate taxes on dividends and many capital gains and essentially cap individual tax rates at 20 percent.

Perry argues these tax cuts will spur economic growth by creating a more favorable environment for wealthy people and corporations to start or expand businesses.

But without significant spending reductions, the tax cuts could drastically increase federal budget deficits.

“Taxes will be cut across all income groups in America, and the net benefit will be more money in Americans’ pockets with greater investment in the private economy,” Perry said at ISO Poly Films Inc. in South Carolina.

With the “Cut, Balance and Grow” plan, Perry seems determined to re-energize his campaign and reassert himself as a candidate after weeks of struggles.

In an interview with John Harwood, a reporter with CNBC and the New York Times, Perry cast Romney – the GOP frontrunner – as a “fat cat.”

Perry is clearly looking to woo tea party conservatives who have been reluctant to back Romney. In almost every way, he presents policies that are slightly more conservative than those of the former Massachusetts governor.

I’m having a hard time saying “no” to this proposal.

The optional aspect of it is great, but having essentially parallel codes would of necessity increase the size of the IRS.

Hearing Mark Levin break it down puts my mind at ease a bit.

I told my wife lat week that Perry was gonna do something like this to change the game.....and he has. The only thing now is, since there’s no debate until next month, he himself is gonna have to sell it and articulate it and generate his own buzz about it.

This is why I’m glad nobody’s dropped out recently:

It is in the crucible of debate that the best ideas will come forward to defeat our common opponent.

He's the only one fighting! Cain is playing the sweater vest wearing grandpa and Romney's playing the squishy electable guy. I hate to tell you but without Perry doing what he is doing, Cain would be getting beat and would lose to Mitt.

Why do you think Jeb Bush came out and told Perry to lay off Romney?

Problem is, Perry enters the crucible of debate and emerges as iron pyrite.

Only one fighting? Fighting for what, using tax dollars to subsidize the education of illegals?

Perry isn’t even on the radar anymore.

Cain is the sweater vest wearing, charming grandpa

You are a gratuitous, pompous, get in the slop, get filthy, arrogant schmuck.

Cain is at 25% and anita perrywinkle is 6% in the nyslimes latest poll, and you've got the audacity to condescendingly call him a "charming grandpa".

You missed "minstrelsy" and

You mean the Forbes plan, to save the IRS and increase tax payers cost will save it, should not add over 10,000 new pages to the regulation. Hell Forbes and Judy both won running on it.. LOL

Even if he does win, he'll end up disappointing you, one way or another. It's no longer enough to say Candidate X is better than Obama.

But keep checking the mail every day for the Perry Prize that will never come.

Perry is obviously ready to get in the slop where the DNC and Obama live and drag their asses out by their tails. Romney and Cain are not.

Now I haven't finished my first cup of coffee yet, but I have no idea what that means. Could you explain it please?

Mitt has now been set aside. He and the liberal Republicans are now shown to be at odds with what has become mainstream Republican, conservative thought.

There is a clear desire by many for reform of the tax code. There is a clear desire for a leader who will set about the task of developing that reform. With the two primary methods now with champions, Mitt is left out.

Both Cain or Perry can now agree to accept a plan that is near the others claiming the congress must make the decision. The important task is to eliminate the current unworkable and unfair code

“Did he clear his plan with Anita first?”

Ha.. realistically, the real question is “Has Anita cleared the plan with him?”

Probably not.

You can expect him to make a fool of himself in debates and interviews.

Your fertile mind?

Why don’t you just make a list of ALL the words that are not ALLOWED to be used when discussing a black person.

One PerryBot called Cain "America's favorite Uncle"...a thinly-veiled reference to an Uncle Tom.

The race card works so well for the left, why should the PerryBots use it?

This election, I mean the general is going to go into the gutter no matter who is our nominee. It's going to get ugly.

Perry will get ugly back.

I hope everyone reads your post.

First I said he was PLAYING the sweater vest wearing grandpa (remember Huckabee's sweater vests). So you didn't even quote me right. He is playing that angle just as Romney is playing the moderate electable guy.

No you can call me a schmuck but I assume you have been waiting with baited breath for the opportunity to accuse someone of racism against Cain. You think you had your shot but you missed it by a mile.

Out of your own heart your mouth speaks. You call Perry PW and I say Cain wears sweater vests and is grandfatherly and that's racist? You threw in the minstrelsy comment. You sound like Obama and his supporters defending him.

By the way you chicken sh!t. Herman Cain is a charming grandfatherly type. Say he's not!

So I see we have this segment of the Republican Party too huh?

He hasn't disappointed me yet and he's been my governor for 10 years. The only way a person gets disappointed in a candidate is if they assume that candidate will save them and can do no wrong.

I don't trust any candidate to do whats right out of the goodness of their heart. I expect every candidate's feet to be held to the fire always.

I know Perry can screw up but I also know he will listen to his legislature. I don't put my hope in any man or woman.

Shoot I loved GWB and look what he did at the end. I liked Colin Powell and he endorsed Obama.

No more of that for me. Perry could never disappoint me.
