Fueled by Tea Party supporters, conservatives and high-interest GOP primary voters, former Godfathers Pizza CEO Herman Cain now leads the race for the Republican presidential nomination, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
snip
Cain checks in as the first choice of 27 percent of Republican voters in the poll, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 23 percent and Perry at 16 percent. After those three, its Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 11 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 8 percent, Bachmann at 5 percent and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman at 3 percent.

Going back 11 years on someone’s post history is pretty creepy. Just sayin’
“Herman’s plan would eliminate 15.3% payroll tax on that $25,000.”
Worth noting!
If Cain is doing this well on a shoestring budget, what would happen if he wins the nomination!!!???? He’d have money then AND momentum.
“Cain’s 999 plan is not going to remain intact”
That’s assuming Cain has no mandate. I guess when you shock the daylights out of everyone, an underfunded unknown who suddenly wins, you have no mandate, I guess. You wouldn’t be able to claim any real power. You’d be compromised. /sarc
There are plenty of chat rooms out there if you don’t like being quoted.
Here, if you are away for a long time [which I am every now and then], it’s only natural that someone would see what you posted just before your absense. Jim Robinson planned it that way: what we write endures for history. That was his goal. Wild, ‘aint it?
Perry's priority has always been to cut spending, first, and to cut the influence of the federal government in our lives.
Here's what he's said in the past:
"In the wake of the New Deal, We have allowed Progressives to successfully frame the debate. Republicans constantly allow themselves to be trapped into thinking they are against people if they oppose certain programs." (p. 55,location 945 kindle)
"First, we must restrict federal spending. Rampant and wasteful spending in Washington is an affront to both freedom and federalism. The most important thing we could do is amend the Constitution now to restrict federal spending. There are generally thought to be two options: the traditional balanced budget amendment or a straightforward spending limit amendment, either of which would be a significant improvement. I prefer the latter. It is imperative that we establish a constitutional requirement that the federal government live within its means like states and most American households must dobut I dont want the Washington establishment to hide behind tax increases to balance the budget. Lets use the peoples documentthe Constitutionto put an actual spending limit in place to control the beast in Washington." (p.181)
"Second, we should restrict the unlimited source of revenue that the federal government has used to grow beyond its constitutionally prescribed powers. One option would be to totally scrap the current tax code in favor of a flat tax, and thereby make taxation much simpler, easier to follow, and harder to manipulate. Another option would be to repeal the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution (providing the power for the income tax) altogether, and then pursue an alternative model of taxation such as a national sales tax or the Fair Tax." (p.182)

Again..just sayin'
Amazon book sales rank for This is Herman Cain! hardcover is #17 overall, #1 in political, and #2 in Memoirs this morning. It was in the top 10 overall last week. Amazon updates rankings in real time.
On the other hand, the New York Times Bestseller List for October 16 non-fiction does not include This is Herman Cain! in its list. The book doesn't receive mention in "Also Selling."
The NYT Oct. 16 bestseller list reflects sales for the week ending October 1, 2011. Cain's book was released October 4.
The Old Grey Lady moves more slowly than molasses in January.
I like Cain and just like everyone else I want to find that someone to reflect my hopes in. 999 sets off my alarm bells as does his position with the fed.
why 999?
why not 99....or 12 12
I already pay 8.5% sales tax...we do not need more sales tax around here....
just make it the income and coporate tax...bring the number up to what is needed and forget the sales tax.
What about the “empowerment zones?”
Before we see Cains’ numbers, he’s already increasing the complexity of the plan - along with the bureaucracy.
I suspect you are a Ron Paul supporter. He has many unique and sterling qualities. I used to be a Keyes-ter.
I’d be flattered if someone did a deep check on myself. One web page tried to paint me as a lunatic for wanting toilets that flush. “Gay” researchers have regular files on me and other freepers: I’m classified as a homophobe last time I googled — kool.
Let’s see here, you did post something in 2010 which I am inclined to agree with:

This is an incredible double standard. Rush Limbuagh is basically banned from any form of participation or punditry in professional sports, but the “mouth frothing” looney at MSNBC plods away unimpeded.
If you are a baseball fan like me, signed the petition. Let’s get this ah out of there.

I’ve long believed that the best way to follow Reagan’s footsteps is to have experience in talk radio. You hone yourself and test your thoughts with millions of others. You worry less about trivial appearance and think more about ideas. You are forced to research INTENTLY.
The only problem is that the top radio hosts get all the attention and are already doing important work. They would be out of their comfort zone to run.
So here comes Cain. Hahah! Great info about him.
First off, shifting more toward a sales tax stimulates business, jobs, and ultimately government revenue. You know, a recovery. People make more money. AND the other taxes drive up costs. Take that drag off businesses, and prices will drop — only question is “when”.
I like the Fair Tax myself. We’d get a “prebate” I think it was — you’d get a check mailed to you in anticipation of spending to offset the tax.
next a national sales tax will be easy for local businesses to eliminate by accepting cash.....as it is done with the state sales taxes now...
let us just stay with a flat income tax for individuals and corporations..
Hey go scratch.. What are you, eight? Tattletale snitch. Get lost
Yeah that 21% state sales tax is a real bummer!
Hyperbole gets you nowhere, Huck.
So, by 'oblivion', you apparently mean 'the lead in the polls.
You're right, there is no guarantee that the amount paid by the employer would end up in the employee's paycheck. However, it is all essentially payroll expense to the employer, regardless of if it's paid to the employee or the government. Paying it all to the employee would leave the payroll expense as is. If the company kept that portion, it would be an additional savings, on top of the corporate income tax reduction, and would end up in price reduction of their product. So, either way, the savings would end up boosting the economy, either by increased income for the employees or decreased prices for the consumer.
