Fueled by Tea Party supporters, conservatives and high-interest GOP primary voters, former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain now leads the race for the Republican presidential nomination, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Cain checks in as the first choice of 27 percent of Republican voters in the poll, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 23 percent and Perry at 16 percent. After those three, it’s Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 11 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 8 percent, Bachmann at 5 percent and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman at 3 percent.

If Cain is doing this well on a shoestring budget, what would happen if he wins the nomination!!!???? He’d have money then AND momentum.

That’s assuming Cain has no mandate. I guess when you shock the daylights out of everyone, an underfunded unknown who suddenly wins, you have no mandate, I guess. You wouldn’t be able to claim any real power. You’d be compromised. /sarc

Perry's priority has always been to cut spending, first, and to cut the influence of the federal government in our lives.
Here's what he's said in the past:

Amazon book sales rank for This is Herman Cain! hardcover is #17 overall, #1 in political, and #2 in Memoirs this morning. It was in the top 10 overall last week. Amazon updates rankings in real time.
On the other hand, the New York Times Bestseller List for October 16 non-fiction does not include This is Herman Cain! in its list. The book doesn't receive mention in "Also Selling."
The NYT Oct. 16 bestseller list reflects sales for the week ending October 1, 2011. Cain's book was released October 4.
The Old Grey Lady moves more slowly than molasses in January.
I like Cain and just like everyone else I want to find that someone to reflect my hopes in. 999 sets off my alarm bells as does his position with the fed.

I already pay 8.5% sales tax...we do not need more sales tax around here....
just make it the income and coporate tax...bring the number up to what is needed and forget the sales tax.

Before we see Cains’ numbers, he’s already increasing the complexity of the plan - along with the bureaucracy.

I’ve long believed that the best way to follow Reagan’s footsteps is to have experience in talk radio. You hone yourself and test your thoughts with millions of others. You worry less about trivial appearance and think more about ideas. You are forced to research INTENTLY.
The only problem is that the top radio hosts get all the attention and are already doing important work. They would be out of their comfort zone to run.
So here comes Cain. Hahah! Great info about him.
First off, shifting more toward a sales tax stimulates business, jobs, and ultimately government revenue. You know, a recovery. People make more money. AND the other taxes drive up costs. Take that drag off businesses, and prices will drop — only question is “when”.
I like the Fair Tax myself. We’d get a “prebate” I think it was — you’d get a check mailed to you in anticipation of spending to offset the tax.
next a national sales tax will be easy for local businesses to eliminate by accepting cash.....as it is done with the state sales taxes now...
let us just stay with a flat income tax for individuals and corporations..

So, by 'oblivion', you apparently mean 'the lead in the polls.
You're right, there is no guarantee that the amount paid by the employer would end up in the employee's paycheck. However, it is all essentially payroll expense to the employer, regardless of if it's paid to the employee or the government. Paying it all to the employee would leave the payroll expense as is. If the company kept that portion, it would be an additional savings, on top of the corporate income tax reduction, and would end up in price reduction of their product. So, either way, the savings would end up boosting the economy, either by increased income for the employees or decreased prices for the consumer.
