Issue |
Perry |
Cain |
---|---|---|
2nd Amendment |
Has a firearm, a CCL, and he uses them. Has a long history of 2nd Amendment support: |
Thinks gun control should be left to the state and local governments placing him at odds with Heller and McDonald. |
Abortion |
Perry signed into law a regulation would have required women seeking an abortion to view a sonogram and listen to the fetus's heartbeat while a doctor rattled off a detailed description of the fetus's anatomical development — and then forcibly ponder their decision for an additional 24 hours before an abortion could be performed. |
Pro-life from conception, pro-life from conception, pro-life from conception.
|
Gay Marriage (note the so-called 'flip-flop' actually serves to showcase Perry's support of the 10th Amendment) |
Rick Perry has signed a pledge to back a federal constitutional amendment against gay marriage – a reversal from a month ago when the Texas governor said he so supported individual states' rights that he was fine with New York's approval of same-sex marriage. |
Supports traditional marriage, support traditional marriage
|
Global Warming / Cap & Trade |
Long history of fighting the EPA as Texas Governor: [The EPA] relied heavily upon findings by climate-change scientists that have been subsequently discredited by the scientists' own e-mails .... |
I don't believe global war-- global warming is real. Do we have climate change? Yes. Is it a crisis, no. And this is why I strongly oppose the-- the cap in trade
|
Red Flags |
Use of a liberal term (“heartless”) while discussing an issue (in-state tuition for residents of non-citizens). |
Use of a liberal term (“insensitive”) in referring to a racial accusation before the facts were revealed. |
GAD. Do you have a clue? He appeared there to speak on “STATES RIGHTS AND FEDERALISM”. Perry is known far and wide as a states rights man. What’s your guy done for states rights lately? Actually, EVER?
Not liberal for Texas. Please research the issue, and see my post #37.
Well, I think you did a fine job getting a thread up on FR. Thank you.
I think you have given an interesting presentation for those who have not decided yet who they want to support. It always help to visualize things in side by side tables like that.
And you are right... we have lots of smart people here at Free Republic who can provide information to make a point if and when necessary.
Thank you for your work!
It did post, you did well. I’ve been flamed unmercifully for saying that Cain could have given a more measured, neutral and less inflamatory response on the Perry hunting camp thing. He lashed out before he even knew the facts of the matter. And now, to add to the silliness, we have the preacher and Mormon thing... just silly.
My gut told me to be wary of Cain when he gave his announcement speech. It was just to much of a sing-song camp meeting delivery and to make it worse he toned all that down later trying to become the everyman. Someone must have advised him he was looking a little too... dare I say it? Hyphenated-American. There, that may have been nice enough.
I gave him serious benefit of doubt and read as much as I could in the time I have had. I like a lot of what he says. I’m wary of the 9-9-9 deal for specific reasons... mostly not enough clarity to evaluate accurately but what I have done I don’t like since it whacks me in retirement after having paid through the nose while working by treating my investment income and sales taxes to amount to more than my planned capital gain income.
I’m no huge Perry fan because of the blunders he has made over the Guardasil, the in state tuition, the border fence position and the Trans Texas Corridor but he might just shake the place up.
I hate to think that AGAIN we will have to vote for the least objectionable candidate. But, that is a relatively easy choice with obastard running.
“...placing him at odds with the majority of non-illegal aliens. “
huh? The legislature of Texas would beg to differ there, kevao. Were you speaking of the “majority” of four, (count ‘em, ONLY four) representatives who opposed? What was he suppose to do as governor with only four opposed? GAD.
No. In one debate he suggested that those that disagreed with him were racists and basing their objections on the sound of someone's last name. Then in the next debate he said that those that disagreed with him were heartless.
BIG DIFFERENCE
It should be obvious that Cain has been cultivating his political positions, and defaults to States’ Right when in doubt.
Best that Cain avoid the damn establishment and not cozy up to Romney. Favoring Romney over Perry is idiotic.
Perry = Shamnesty. He’s a Hispandering idiot.
A most excellent post!
Exactly how does 9-9-9 "whack" you more in retirement? What marginal rates do you currently pay on your various sources of income?
” Cain-much to my surprise, will be the nominee and next POTUS. “ <<<
Well, we’ve certainly proved our willingness to elect a wordsmith with no experience in governance before, I’ll hand you that.
From your fingers to God's ears.
Was it Lenin or Stalin who said if you repeat it enough it becomes true?
No one who has ever run for president will be more against amnesty than Perry. First, he’s dealing with the trouble with illegals as a border state policy making executive, and more importantly a budgetary standpoint, for 11 years. Second, he’s almost been destroyed (unfairly) because he failed to bow and kneel at the alter of the black helicopter crowd with his offering of a few million Mexican hides. He learned his lesson well, I’m sure.
You really think Perry will put forth an amnesty program after all of this? Come on!
I’m sorry, but that’s offensive.
” Perry was invited to be a speaker.” <<<
His topic was “STATES RIGHTS AND FEDERALISM”.
I asked some Cain supporters yesterday some questions and got no answers. So I did some research and this is what I have found so far. I answered my own questions.
(If it is wrong - let me know because I know being for Perry there is a lot of disinformation out there)
Question: Was he an advisor or a formal Reserve Chairman in Kansas City 92-96?
answer: both
Reserve Bank of Kansas and served in the roles of deputy chairman and then chairman of the board from 92 -96.
Question:
I read that he was not for doing an audit on the Federal Reserve? True or not true
Answer: true but changed later
First quote I found:
The Federal Reserve already has so many audits, its ridiculous. I dont know why people think were gonna learn this great amount of information by auditing the Federal Reserve
Later he changed his mind:
About 4 weeks later he said he would be for it but it wasnt a priority.
Question: Was he for TARP?
Answer: Yes. He endorsed TARP Bailout. He said nationalizing banks is not a bad thing. and
no valid criticism had been brought forward of the extraordinary intervention in the economy.
Question: What is the Aquila Board of Directors? Legal Action? Shareholders lost millions? What is this all about?
This one needs more research.
But definitely 5 lawsuits in 2004 against Aquila Board of Directors in which Cain and other Company Officials are listed. Suits mingled into a single class action suit. Settled in 2005 for 10.5 million.
Violation: federal law requiring that employers manage employees retirement programs responsibly
I just watched clip of debate and he had no answer to Afghanistan. Then saw another clip of an interview and he had done some research and had more info but he still offered no ideas.
I have these major problems with him:
Endorsed Romney
My taxes go up under his 9-9-9 plan.
Him saying he would not support Perry if nominated.
And pulled race card regarding the rock against Perry before he knew the facts.
It is so easy to say I will do this and I will do that for someone who has never held any type of office that they have to deal with legislatures/congress.
When Romney’s out of the race? That will not likely happen till very late in the game, and by design. The GOP is changing delegate acquisition rules this cycle, such that March primary states must award delegates proportionally. Any state insisting on winner takes all cannot have their primary till April. The overall effect of this will be to drag out the uncertainty, which in turn will favor endurance candidates, which translates to candidates with big money. They are trying to rig the table for Romney, and he will not go away until he is dragged kicking and screaming from the convention. IMHO.
You just lost all credibility. Which one of those two is a professional politician, and has been for decades? *rolling eyes*
And Hank Williams Jr. has just cut a new song "Keep The Change" It's awesome!! "Keep The Change" - Hank Jr."
Jumpin on the Cain Train!!
So far, I really don’t see any guy or gal for that matter that has earned my vote. So—there.
