Ken Vogel and I both have sources telling us that calls were made on behalf of a mystery candidate to various early states to determine presidential filing deadlines. Continue Reading
The calls were made by representatives of the law firm Baker Hostetler - a firm that employs lawyer Mark Braden, who represents Sarah PAC, her political action committee.
As Ken notes, while he nor representatives of Palins campaign would comment on the calls, Palin is the only GOP politician eying the presidential race who is represented by the firm.
It wouldnt be the first time that her representatives have sought information on the deadlines marking the ever-shifting GOP calendar.
The current thinking in GOP election law circles is that the first hard cut-off for entering the race is Oct. 28, when presidential candidates who hope to appear on the ballot in the New Hampshire primary would be required to submit a filing fee from a federally registered presidential campaign committee.

Bundlers? Who are her bundlers?
Yep. The Undefeated is released today, and some loosely-sourced story gets leaked to the media by the Palin camp to get her name front and center in the news cycle.
If some people here would just take a step back, it’s an obvious (and shameless) ploy to get media attention on the day the DVD is released.
He’ll serve as VP for Mittens. Sarah is way too smart to get caught up in that trap.
No you don't You and your PDS pals routinely trash her as a money grubber. Don't lie about it.
Since the meme is that Sarah Palin is a lightweight idiot who can barely speak English It is reasonable to show her actually accomplishing things. Notice that there is no ‘Karl Rove’ or ‘Dick Morris’ in her life. Whatever she accomplished she did by making her own way, and her own alliances.
Note that all the major legislation that she put forward to radically change Alaskan politics was BIPARTISAN.
Where is your propaganda not supported by contemporaneous FACTS in this movie?
No, actually, cboldt is exactly right. I’ve represented clients seeking ballot access under IL election code and the difficulties do not arise under minor technicalities but due to real candidate defects. And even those defects can be overcome if the candidate is strong in other areas. The two biggies are residency and signature quality/quantity. I also happen to know there will be an objector who will demand proof of birth location. This objector will not be given much consideration.
But Sarah does need good signatures, and we know it, and are already preparing for action. Cboldt, your numbers are right for the GOP. And we have till first week of January to get it done. And proportional award of delegates, the new rule, works in Palin’s favor. It’s all good.
Well, that shows your level of intellect about me and my voting tendencies. Thank you for sharing your stupidity with me.
“Who are her bundler?”
What! I should know all the many thousands? There are two freepers who’ve admitted to doing so; they’re just waiting until she announces to leap into action.
Hey! Know of any good new wineries out in Tualatin?
So now we're at the point where you can flat-out lie about what I post, and assign motives to my posts. I've got other people in this thread calling me an Obama voter, and then you say I call her a "money grubber". I've never done that, and I'll add that you're the one who seems a bit defensive about Palin's money-making prowess. She makes a lot of money, which is fantastic. I'm not sure why it upsets some of you so much when other FReepers point out that fact.
Certain FReepers whom you know, among others. You never saw this coming, did you. (sigh)
Saw what coming? The time is ripe for Palin to announce. A lot of media exposure today, her DVD comes out on the same day, and a lot of excitement surrounding her intentions.
Will she cancel her gigs in South Korea and jump into the mix? Or are we all going to go through this routine every other week or so?

Liar liar pants on fire.
It’s not that you objectively refer to her monetary prowess. It’s that it is always couched as the alternative motive for her actions, as though she is not motivated by her love of country or her respect for her supporters. It’s the motivational framework, not the talk of money, that irritates us.
You forgot Coulter, who endorsed Romney last night on Hannity’s show.
Well....like I said...this is going to be interesting! About that, there is certainty!
Ping!
He was born in the United States. Even if your a birther with a pet theory, his father George was born in Mexico to U.S. citizen parents but under Mexican law of the day was not eligible for citizenship. George Romney was never anything except an American.
Silly wabbit. The Korean gig has long been part of the plan for “getting into the mix,” as you call it, and I have to say, in light if the timing, if this all works out, she will have demonstrated a capacity for anticipatory planning that is nothing short of astonishing.
The Korean gig is a paid speech by Sarah Palin. She can’t give a paid speech if she is an announced candidate. That’s why I don’t think she’ll announce until after that trip, if at all.
Since there's no tsunami, we assume you *didn't* find the real birth certificate?
Cheers!
