Herman Cain: Voters will find Chris Christie too liberal
Daily Caller ^ | 10/02/2011 | Alex Pappas

Posted on 10/02/2011 7:05:59 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain predicted on Fox News Sunday that GOP primary voters will find New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie too liberal if he decides to join the race for the White House.

Moderator Chris Wallace pointed out Christie’s views on gun control, civil unions, immigration, global warming that may not be conservative enough for Republicans, and asked Cain if Christie is too liberal to be the GOP nominee for president.

“Yes,” Cain responded. “I believe that a lot of conservatives, once they know his position on those things that you just delineated, they are not going to be able to support him. I think that it is absolutely a liability for him if he gets in the race.”

There has been rampant speculation in recent weeks that Christie would change course on his repeated statements that he will not run for president, as donors and Republicans continue to push him to run.

“Most of the conservatives believe that we should enforce our borders,” Cain elaborated, “they do not believe people should be here without documentation. They do not believe global warming is a crisis or a threat. Yes it might be a little bit out there, but they don’t see it as a crisis or a threat. And as you go right down the line, he’s going to turn off a lot of conservatives with those positions.”

I am shocked! Cain does not “Today” support someone that he is competing with for the nomination.

You don’t really need strong critical reasoning skills to understand his point. So what is your real agenda?

I’m “sold” on him. Thanks for the confirmation. There are lots of canards flying around on this thread and it nice someone put the record straight.

The homosexual lobby is at the heart of this nation’s moral decay. They captured Hollywood and TV, the mainstream media, the schools and colleges, the military, the various branches of state and federal government (think Barney F and Speaker John Perez in CA) , the judiciary (we saw what happened to Prop 8) and yes, they have now captured the Churches as well (gay Lutheran, Church of England, Episcopal, and Baptist bishops)

RE: No, he very unsubtly implied it. He knows that it isn’t the “Perry Ranch”, but it didn’t stop the smear.

Nope, never got that impression. He said the use of the word is insensitive. That’s all.

I never got the impression that he even IMPLIED that Perry was racist.

Cain said he would have defended the soldier, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT HE WOULD DEFEND THE POLICY OF REPEALING DADT.
How I know that ? HE HAS SAID ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THAT HE IS FOR REINSTATING DADT AND SAID SO EVEN ON THE WEBSITE I PROVIDED.

Cain supports men who defend this country, that does not mean that he supports all of their misguided beliefs.

“Yes, I am aware Cain has spoken out about global warming, I want to know why he said it like this, like he distances himself from ‘they’=us’...”

I can’t speak for Cain. But I’ve always said (in fact, I mentioned in an unrelated thread today http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2786905/posts#12) that we can’t assume that most Americans will agree with us on global warming. We have to understand the science in order to refute the non-science and we won’t be served by quick and easy talking points attack.

The global warming guy?

Well it did get hot a few summers ago, when it wasn't cold; and there are fires in Texas, must be George Bush's Rick Perry's fault; last winter had lots of snow but it was global warming that changed to cooling before going back to warming and then cooling; (just trying to get the lines right so I can be a political cultist too.

Yes, Gingrich has flaws; I definitely prefer Perry; he can beat Obama and he really is quite conservative; not perfect, somewhat flawed but very conservative; I'm afraid Sarah will lose; so many people have a derangement syndrome about her; same sort of thing I've witnessed on FR recently with Perry though; politics turns lots of folks into wingnuts

RE: You are the one who used it. That either makes you an insensitive hypocrite, a racist, or someone who has a get of jail free card to use the N word..

I used it, that does not mean I use it ON PEOPLE.

What Cain is telling Perry is this -— QUIT USING THAT WORD FOR THE RANCH, THAT’s ALL.

I defend Cain against people ( like you ) who would call him a race baiter when there is NO EVIDENCE that he is one.

And BTW, I would not defend Cain if he did something wrong. But you have not shown in your post that he did.

So what is your real agenda?

To expose cultist liars who are hijacking FR to push a phony on us who will deliver the election to Obama; but let me tell you how I really feel ...

“I would not be surprised if he endorses Obama for reelection if we nominate a conservative like Perry or Palin.”

Bite your tongue! Honestly, that’s ridiculous. What a totally unfounded thing to say. Cain may not be YOUR perfect conservative, but he will never carry water for Obama.

First you have to show that those who disagree with you are cultist liars. Have you done that? I don’t think so.

Just reading through this thread and you are the most blatant racist I’ve seen on FR to date.

You are the racist; typical Dem tactics of playing the race card. You played it; it is you.

Cult members never agree they were in a cult until after they leave. They are in denial the entire time due to guilt and fear that their utopia will leave them behind for not being faithful, etc.

You really think Perry can beat Obama? He can’t debate his way out of a paper bag. I see him as another McCain. Just as pro-illegal and just as inarticulate.

Here is what Herman said...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QN4JE0-HwgU

He took the bait hook line and sinker and smeared Perry willingly.

RE: Cult members never agree they were in a cult until after they leave.

UH UH, Can’t let you get away with that. First you have to show what cult one belongs to and what reasons you believe this to be so.

Simply assuming that one is in a cult won’t cut it. You are simply jumping the gun.

Could it not be that you are the one who is a cult member and not the people you are accusing?

With your personal antipathy towards Mr. Cain and the absolute lack of reasoning in your argument, you are exposing yourself, sir.

Yes, I really think he can beat Obama electorally; otherwise I would not support him. He can't debate his way out of a paper bag but he can win anyway. He is not just as pro-illegalas McCain; not even as much as Bush. Yes, he is inarticulate but I expect (country will require) improvement there. I think he is a real deal and would make a great President. I think he can win where Sarah can't (and she is articulate, etc. ).

I saw the video. I don’t think he smeared Perry because I never got the impression that Perry is a racist even in that interview.

He called the use of that name for the ranch insensitive. THAT’s ALL.

No big deal IMHO.

Cain exposed himself today on national television. He was despicable and I categorically reject, reject, reject him for it.

It was not Perrys ranch, it wasn’t even his fathers ranch, and it was Perrys father that removed the word even though it was on another mans property.

To try to infer that Perry was responsible for the word being there is disingenuous.

Herman Cain is flat out wrong to infer that Perry is insensitive.

It amazes me that last week people accused Perry of being an illegal lover and now this week they accuse him of being a closet racist.
