Michelle Obama dazzles in New York, wearing diamond bangles by H-Town's Katie Decker
That was no ordinary bling on the wrist of First Lady Michelle Obama at the DNC fundraiser in New York Tuesday night. Those fancy diamond cuffs were the creation of 23-year-old Katie Decker, whose namesake jewelry line has been making a serious splash since her graduation from Texas A&M two years ago.
--- blah, blah, blah

Will someone ask in the next press conference, "Who paid for those diamonds?" I doubt it.
PS: the comments are hilarious! Skip the story, that's where the fun is!
Many celebrities wear clothes and jewels on loan from designers. It is a form of advertising for the designers, whether it be clothing or jewels.
Michelle Obama may not own those bracelets. They may only have been loaned to her.
Her husband should be wearing some ‘’bling’’ as well.......they are called handcuffs
I’m guessing they were on loan.
Either way, it just adds to her now credible image of Moochelle Antoinette.
I love the comments!
What’s also amusing is that the lib(s) who wrote and published this gushing article are totally oblivious to the contrast of Michelle’s bling and the state of the economy.
a loan is something of value and should be treated as such
what would the IRS do to you or me?
.
Nancy Reagan never got this fawning press for her apparel that was also on line.
We’ll know soon. If they’re not on loan, she’ll be flaunting them in our faces every chance she gets.
D’Oh! On-line = on loan
A loan would work with most first couples...BUT, the Obamas are unlike any other first couple.
Like one commenter said, Maybe the Obamas have figured out the candy store is closing in Nov.2012...
As a taxpayer I want to see where the jewelry has been given back.

The fruits of corruption. Remember they had nothing except a junk car, when he ran for office. Now they are millionaires with a mansion of their own. Some democrats are more corrupt than other though. The Obamas with union and real estate “gifts” take it to the next level. I hope I see the day they do a perp walk.
“As a taxpayer I want to see where the jewelry has been given back.”
Because it bothers you that she might have bought them, or because she shouldn’t accept expensive gifts?
As with the jewels worn by big name stars on Oscars night, the baubles are on loan, are worn by the big name, and are highly-insured and protected security-wise for one night, then returned immediately.
Wearing the jewelry for one special event creates attention and advertising both for the wearer and the provider. It often "makes" the designer or company in the fine jewelry wholesale or retail business.
The immorality of this ploy between the designer and the wife of the president is that while there's no obvious or covert kickback for the free advertising, undoubtedly there will be a fat contribution sent to the Obama re-election campaign when the time comes....the contribution being sent in the name of the designer's third cousin twice removed, of course.
This is how it's done in the rarified atmosphere of politics and greed on the highest level.

Actually Obama made a good bit of money on the book written by Ayers. He does have his own source of income. Also Michelle had a very tidy salary at the UC hospital system (which was very likely a matter of political favor since her salary doubled when Barry went from a state senator to a federal one).
Neither of them were actually poor at any recent time. I would certainly describe most of it as ill gotten gains, but it’s been long term, not Whitehouse based.
“How about because it was a campaign event and we all had to know what Palin did with her wardrobe.”
That’s your rationale?
It was ridiculous in Palin’s case, it’s no better now.
I’m sure they are gratis from a designer. The O’s would be more than stupid to pull that. They are corrupt and vain, not dumb.
