She just cam on - 1st up on show.
"Reasonable" is the highest compliment I could want, thank you!
Maybe it's because I'm middle-aged. I have often said most of my problems with Palin stem from her fans.
I recall how much we loathed the cult of personality around Palin, and it seems many people actually were just jealous, and wanted that very kind of emotional involvement the Obama crowds grooved in.
Palin is a politician. I don't get emotionally wrapped up in pols, don't overlook flaws in people who see things as I do, and don't think the requirements for becoming president should be watered down just because someone so completely unprepared for the job as Obama got in on the other side.
I come from a time when I could criticize a presidential candidate extensively and STILL vote for them--and people didn't think there was anything odd about that.
These are politicians, not friends.
“I have often said most of my problems with Palin stem from her fans.”
This method of choosing support for a potential candidate has never made sense to me.
It makes absolutely no sense.
When Ann Coulter started using this line, it cemented my impression that she is completely gone.
Why exactly would she wait for Bachmann to get out?

Really?
Wasilla long term debt when she took office - $1 million.
Wasilla long term debt when she left office - $23 million.
She imposed a sales tax on everything including food (only "certain" medications were exempt).
Her bungling of a simple $260k real estate deal (the ice rink fiasco) ended up costing little Wasilla over $2 million in higher price and legal costs.
Her "banner achievement" as governor, the "pipeline", has barely inched forward and there is an even chance that the $500 million (yes, half a billion $$$) of Alaska taxpayer money that she committed to the companies involved will be lost.
The profits tax she imposed on oil companies (in addition to pre-existing taxes and royalty payment deals) has driven activity away from the state and her hand-picked successor is trying to reverse it.
That's the problem with palin...if you judge her simply on emotion, tweets, facebook essays and her ability to "make the libs' heads explode" then you do not get an accurate picture of her real governing record.
It is not that good at all.
And, yes, Virginia, she did quit.
While she’s still under contact with Fox, hitting other networks can’t happen.

What, in your "humble" opinion, is the difference between "quit" and "resign"??
Truthfully, she could use some speech training. But then again....
Have you ever listened to General George Patton? Actually the General, not George C. Scott. He had a southern twang, and a falsetto voice. If he had had to read a paragraph about say....the weather....and you couldn't see who was reading it, you'd have never, ever guessed that this was probably the absolute best combat general in all of WWII.
And so it is with Governor Palin. Perhaps I would wish for a better voice with more "training" behind it to satisfy my own "image" of what a President should sound like (President Reagan spoiled me)....but I know this. Governor Palin means what she says and says what she means. What you hear is the Governor, not a trained speaker...a real person. I've begun to concentrate on the message, and have tried to downplay my own personal bias for a "better voice".
I'll take Governor Palin...and her critical stands on the issues, over anyone else currently running or deciding to run on the Republican ticket.
Voice or no voice.
I don’t listen to Rush. But it’s great that he pointed out the stupidity. LOL
I suspect you’re right. The Mama Grizzly is grim. I hope it is only the McGinniss book. That can be overcome, and the creep has effectively destroyed himself by writing it.

You pick. Either one, she walked away from a job that she sought and that the voters of her state gave her. Character counts.
This is not an answer to my question; it is "spin".
I asked a simple question of you; I did not ask that you couch your response in terms of anyone in particular. So I will repeat it for you.
In your "humble" opinion, what is the difference between "quit" and "resign"?
1) The polls this far out are crap, at least the way they're being used. If you disagree, take it up with President Giuliani.
2) That said, remember that Perry was hanging down in the low teens... before he announced and then suddenly shot up. Despite being included as "possible" candidates, it does appear that most folks are reluctant to say they support someone not actively in the race.
Oh, and, she quit.
As opposed to Rick Perry who is out there campaigning in NY City instead of his job as governor of Texas. Shouldn't he be paying back the people of Texas for being a part time governor.
It is also noted that you wrote nothing to address palin's less than admirable record in Wasilla.
I was voice trained in my fifties to do radio work. Your comment about an old dog is just not true.
Well wtc....you've proven yourself as adept as any dem/lib/prog/pop in spin, evasion, and just plain silliness.
I knew beforehand that I would never get a straight answer out of you...but I enjoy "putting you on display" for the readers here at FR. You've proven my point yet again.
Oh...just for your education, edification, and enjoyment....
"QUIT": To abandon or put aside; forsake or to depart from; leave.
"RESIGN":To give up one's job or office especially by formal notification.
Semantics?? Uh...no. Emphatically no.
There are those who've quit for specific reasons and those who should have, but didn't. There are also those who, for specific reasons, resigned...and of course, many who should have, but didn't.
It really is all about the reasons behind the action, isn't it?
If trying to illuminate a point to a rabid liberal and charter member of the "I hate Sarah Palin" club weren't so entertaining - at least in your case - it would be a waste of time. But all of us here do like a good laugh...and you are providing it in grand style!
Our thanks!
Pops?
that’s outside of Dixie talk Mickey, down here we say Paw Paw or Grandpa or Papa....Pops is cereal or sometime a soft drink in border states...I’m neither yet but have 5 pickneys from 4-23...and still only a spry 54..lol...making babies keep ya young...remember that when you age if some fine woman will have ya
I would vote for Palin and she used to really move me...paid big bucks to see her speak privately 2 years ago...how many of her fans here have done that?
I’m just not impressed with her strategery....and I don’t like Girl Power or Populist sounding rhetoric...but there are things about her I like a lot. It’s just her star has dimmed for me...it has on all of them.
Get in there and fight it out with the rest of them.
some of her supporters here are a bit much...yes that I do say often
many of those are actually ok though off the Palin subject though..some not though...some are dregs from another era back now to behave like they always do
the perfect candidate would be:
Palin’s lustre.
Newt’s steel trap recall.
Bachmann’s ideology.
Perry’s mean streak...those come in handy.
Santorum’s social morality.
Cain’s biz skills.
Ron Paul’s respect for the domestic application of the Constitution (not his out to lunch view on foreign policy)
The Emergency Wasilla Toilet Company is still carrying a grudge since Sarah Palin, as the Wasilla mayor, built public restroom facilities in the downtown area, thereby eliminating the need of the Wasilla Toilet Company’s provided Porta a Potties and, at the same time improving both the air quality and sights in the downtown commercial district.
Two things resulted.......
The business for downtown stores dramatically increased.
The Emergency Wasilla Toilet Company is a shell of it’s former self, having been reduced to picking up Grizzly Bear scat from the forest floor outside of the city limits.
Hold on a minuet, my tongue is stuck to my cheek! Damn it’s cold here in Alaska!
