During Obama's first two years in office, he passed five stimulus/jobs bills. If you add up the promises, he boldly promised something well over 5.5 million jobs "created or saved." But reality turned out very differently: there are now 2 million fewer people working than when the first Stimulus passed. On top of that, the number of jobs should have increased as the countrys population has grown by almost 5 million. Population growth by itself should have generated more than 3 million new jobs.
President Obama claims that instead of our economy being short of over 5 million jobs, things would have been even worse without his policies. We would have lost 10.5 million jobs without all his spending. No matter how bad the job numbers get, Obama points to some hypothetical economic meltdown that was avoided by his policies. Thus, no evidence whatsoever, no matter how bad, can be used against him.
With all the different Stimulus and jobs programs, it is hard to remember all the promises and to keep track of where all the money has gone. . . .

If they hadn’t passed Obamacare, and raised the minimum wage, we would have more jobs
Not mine ... in fact it’s vanished.
I suppose I could say that my job has been saved, since I still have it. And that would likely be about all that is necessary in the mind of Obama’s economists to count it.
(And don’t pay attention to the cadre of folks with broken mice who feel entitled to read everything on the interweb here and here alone. As if FR would even exist were it not for the rest of the Internet.)
I for one am quite pleased to see John Lott on this board. It's not like he's some unknown blogger trying to raise his site's hit rate.
I think you are way out of line here and needlessly rude to someone who is an honored and much-cited contributor to conservative thought.
Im in the airplane manufacturing business and who save my job was George W. Bush.
Prior to 9/11 the Airlines were not doing well at all and were flying many routes half empty. (All four 9/11 aircraft were flying less that half full). Airlines were canceling orders and layoffs were digging deeper and deeper into the ranks. Then 9/11 happened, and we went through a couple of more dark years, but all of a sudden it started to turn around and in a very big way. Within a few years (still under Bush) airlines were once again at capacity, and airlines were once again standing in line to order more aircraft. The layoffs ended and many of those let go returned. We would have never dreamed it was possible just a few years earlier.

GM plants are popping up and expanding all over the world, but not here. GM Shanghai, GM Wuling, GM Brazil, GM Thailand, GM Uzbekistan. Any place the labor is cheap. Obama’s doing one hell of a job monitoring where it’s going. What a putz.

You can be pleased as you want to be for all I care. It was transparent and, given his conservative leanings, I’m assuming he knows his way around here or at least has been in the electronic arena for a while. It is not up to you to decide whether I am out of line. You can hit abuse and tattle to the Admin if you want. Regardless, he still could have posted all of what he wrote....I’m not a Fox shill or an MSNBC shill or whatever. I expect thoughts and not tease.
Do you know who John Lott is? If Rush Limbaugh or Mark Steyn posted an article like this here, would you say the same thing to them?
My job is next to be cut.
I don’t care - he isn’t God or close to it. It was clumsy, and I’d think Rush would know better.
Quit spamming the Breaking and/or Frontpage sidebars.
Instead of bashing Mr. Lott, why don’t you read his article. You might learn something.
Anyone have an Admini-ZOT symbol handy?
