Legendary singer Tony Bennett has waded into a new controversy by saying America "caused" the attacks on the Twin Towers.
The 85-year-old Grammy-winning crooner, famed for the 1960s hit single "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" appeared on the "Howard Stern Show" on Sirius XM Radio yesterday to discuss his latest album "Duets II."

Oh, well.
Dang. We support AQ in Libya.
Having a great singing voice does not make one smart or insightful.
Otherwise, is he trying to sell an albulm or something?
He left his mind in San Francisco too, I guess.
What’s his position on particle accelerators? I’m sure he’s equally well versed in that field too...
I wish entertainers would just stick to entertaining. Usually they know little about politics or current events.
He is 85, he served in WWII. I will cut him some slack. He is wrong, deadly wrong but he is an old man now and old farts sometimes say dumb things. It comes with the territory of old age.
Knew he was a lefty dope...but thought it was cool he was still singing at 85.
Now, however, adios Tony.
Please exit...stage LEFT.
I used to like his music too. I wonder if he has been paying his “fair share” of taxes?
Tony Bennett is a Ron Paul Republican. Who knew?
LOL!
you beat me to it!.....GMTA..........
Beat me to it, :0)
I hate to see a talented entertainer that rightly receives a lot of respect for his long career as well as his WWII service to his country make such a stupid, insulting and obnoxious statement in public,. Tony Bennett has instantly diminished himself in the eyes of many when he didn’t have to do so. But no, he had to make a blundering anti-war statement that insults the almost-3000 innocents killed in 9/11 and then basically insults the thousands of brave military personnel that have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some suffering life-altering wounds and some making the ultimate sacrifice for their country so an 85-year-old singer, very likely a multi-millionaire, can make idiotic anti-war statements on the radio that equate the barbaric terrorist actions of 9/11 with the actions of the U.S. in opposing terrorism, while Mr. Bennett stupidly and falsely calls his countrymen ‘terrorists’. Disgusting display of ignorance on stilts. What a pathetic way to cap off a long life and an otherwise splendid career.
PLUS JFK caused his own murder.
While I don’t agree with his statements, he did pay his dues by serving as an infantryman in WWII for two years so at least he has an idea of real war. He’s earned the right to speak, people like Michael Moore have not.
As for us being the terrorists, don’t most libs believe this? Hell, plenty of lefties subscribe to this lame view of America but 99.999% never served.
Senility has hit Bennett hard.
