My uncle hit a moose calf with his F-150 in Houlton about 20 years ago. Right through the windshield. He ended up at EMMC in Bangor for 10 days and had to retire (he drove a skidder.)

LOL. Thanks for the laugh on that one. Yeah, you’re right. Even a compact car has the advantage in a car versus motorcycle exchange.

I grew up in moose country. You swerve or you die.
Nah; just need a bigger vehicle. ;-)

2 strokes are banned from highway use and have been for decades. That may be the case for new bikes and CA, but I'm pretty sure in most cases, older 2 stroke street bikes are "grandfathered." I know that around here, there's one guy with a really sweet Yamaha RZ-350, a couple of Kawasaki H3s, and someone has what must be a grey market import (fraudulent papers for licensing) Suzuki RG-500 GP Replica Racer (parallel 4, I belive). And every now an then you can see a 2-strole DP bike too.

THX for the link...a moose that dresses out to 1000 pounds is huge...the picture at the link of the the dead moose is impressive...don't want to take a walk and find one eyeballing you. The numbers that Maine has is surprising..
To: LibWhacker
Personally, I think they look pretty rad...;D
[why are the air cleaner and pipes on the wrong side in the top pic? some Amish thing?]..;D

Maine is a huge state, with most of the population contained on the coast and border areas. That leaves an impressive area of wilderness or near wilderness. We have spent many vacations there tenting, staying at fish camps and fishing for smallmouth bass. I’d rather go there on vacation than anywhere else. It’s beautiful.

Well yeah, socking into a car with a goodly speed advantage over the car would likely knock it far off course. Even if you were a fairly light motorcycle. In this case, according to the article, the bike "T-boned" the car, killing the rider and auto driver and passenger instantly. The impact flipped the car, and moved it more than 10' out of the lane.

Ditto on that. Never been impressed with stories of 500 pound motorcycles muscling 3,000 pound vehicles around.
