CBS/AP) CINCINNATI — A tea party activist is challenging U.S. House Speaker John Boehner in the 2012 Republican primary.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that David Lewis announced his candidacy on Friday.

Lewis, 26, is the father of a 2-year-old girl, and says he plans to run on a single issue — Boehner's support of a federal budget that includes funding for Planned Parenthood, which he calls "the largest killer of unborn babies in America."

Lewis told the newspaper he plans to run graphic...

Perhaps you should read the article in the OP because this kook is affiliated with Randal Terry’s group.

"Breaking apart the bill is what the Speaker is set on much to the WH's dismay and that's exactly what's going to happen. Since the last debt deal, Boehner now has the upper hand."

I will believe it when I see it. Remember what happened last time? Boehner - balls of steel! Well, maybe not steel, maybe aluminum foil. And for all your impassioned support, remember that Boehner has been Congress in for two decades. He bears as much responsibility for being part of the current mess as anyone else.

Boehner is not up to this job. Someone else could do it a lot better!

Yes, I DO remember what happened last time...Obama did NOT get the tax hike he pressed and pressed for. Boehner caused Obama's left-wing support to crash because he stood firm on that. This is part of the reason Obama's base is crashing and his unfavorables are rising on the left...because Boehner stood firm.

Yep...Boehner was in Congress during the US unprecedented prosperity boom all the while fighting to keep taxes from being hiked. (Plus they had the deficit down to $160B before Congress turned though you will not hear about this in the media.) Then, when Pelosi took over things Bush bashing rose to a crescendo and the economy reversed.

“Boehner haters want us to lose on every front.”

Hahahahahaha...yeah, that’s right...hahahahaha...I love a sound, reasoned argument. hERE’S ONE FOR you:

You’ll see. Before this is over, we’ll have given over every gain made in 2010 if you leave to the elites in the Grand Old Potty. AND WE ALL KNOW IT.

Bumping your post #37

I for one, want to see Mr. Lewis' official Tea Party ID card. (/sarc) I wanna know he isn't some kind of a ringer who will be out there making stupid and inflammatory statements to the press that will be attributed to the Tea Party.

This doesn't smell right to me...if there were a movement to unseat Boehner, there are legitimate possibilities in the congress who would be considering it.

I have a real problem with Carpetbagging. Batavia is in Clermont County. He's about 30 miles from West Chester, which is the district border. He could run against Schmidt. He could run for senate. He can run for state house/senate.

I have no love for Planned Barrenhood, but if Boehner is going to actually be really challenged, it needs to come from someone in this district. This will be a 80-20 ass whooping, well deserved.

“Exactly. But the comprehensive point of view is lost on a great number of the FReepers these days.”

SHOULD WE JUST BOW TO YOUR SUPERIOR INTELLECT AND SHUT UP?

Here’s what is comprehensive. The elites and lifetime hacks of the Grand Old Potty needs to be flushed and any of the brain dead adherents should be sent to re-education camps and re-acquainted with Conservatism.

Liberal “Tea Party” plants happened for sure in Nevada. I also think they happened in one other state...

Frankly, I’m sick and tired of every conservative leader being labeled a wuss. For God’s sake, the LIBERTARIAN in the race, Ron Paul, was not on board with the “Let him die” kook who yelled at the last debate.

I have a feeling the so-called purists on F.R. have never been in a real political committee or have never really studied history. And I’m not saying I have all the answers....but EVERY bit of our Constitution was the result of a NEGOTIATION. The delegates in Philadelphia were certain of SOME things: the Articles of Confederation weren’t working, AND they didn’t want to have the King return. :-) But there WERE heated debates.

We ought to keep that in mind...NOT as a pattern to agree with Hussein’s fascist agenda, because we do NOT want him to be returned to power in 2012...but to use it as a way to find common ground with other like-minded conservatives.

Geez, we’re all agreed booting Hussein is essential. We’re all agreed the Republican party lost its way after getting the majority in 1992.

And I am NOT for allowing every assclown with an “R” by their name to be a part of the power structure. I fought against Charlie Crist down here in Florida after he embraced Hussein. But damn, we have to be awfully careful on who we attack as a RINO. Pretty soon we’ll all be killing each other and the victor will be that socialist who calls himself a Democrat.

I agree but the point is...there are cracks in Boehner’s leadership. People are fed up and have been stating that since the Marxist took office. We don’t want compromise which is precisely what Boehner does; which NEVER favors us.

There are others out there, someone else could throw their hat in the ring to challenge him. Lewis says he will move to the district (which indicates he has money imo) in order to qualify.

I have absolutely no problem with Boehner being challenged and hopefully ousted.

Boehner has actually been pretty good on some things lately...because he realizes there is support, at long last.

If you don’t have the majority, you have to compromise on some things to get at least part of your program through, but he has actually been forcing a lot of compromises from Bambi and the Dems. This must be encouraged and rewarded.

As for this self-proclaimed “Tea Party” flake, maybe he should go and try to get some serious support for being elected. If he’s associated with Randall Terry, who came through and destroyed politics in my town very briefly, he won’t be able to get any support.

We have a lot of these self-proclaimed Tea Party leaders in my town and they have even registered “Tea Party” as a party, even though it has no members and no structure and they sure don’t speak for me. So be careful what you wish for, because you’ll end up with something a heck of a lot worse and more inefficient than Boehner, who at least is able to get himself elected by a majority of his district, something Randall Terry was never able to do.

Bonehead is readying a $1 trillion omnibus/continuing resolution for passage next week. The omnibus is reported to be at least $24 billion higher than the House-passed budget. House conservatives are gearing up for a fight with Democrats and Boehner/Cantor over the massive size of the upcoming continuing resolution.

Way to go Boehner! Spend MORE! It's just sickening.

While Boehner—even as Speaker—is not a sacred cow; for a one issue candidate from outside his district to challenge him, is an embarrassment to those of us on the right:

I agree. This guy sounds like a dud. Let's find an across-the-board conservative inside the district to challenge Boner.

I think it is a good thing for our leaders to be challenged.

Really? I was under the impression that the problem was that too many of our politicians are, ahem, "challenged."

Cheers!

Very well said. Also what is important is concentrate on the Senate and make sure we get not just the majority, but the super majority back.

I don't think most who throw the Word RINO out, don't even know what a RINO really is

Because I’ve pinged you in the past on other threads. As a local, I wanted to make sure you knew that the challenger isn’t even in Boehner’s district and might have a credibility problem.
