oops
9)Romney- looks like a lying used car salesman- fake.
That certainly isn't a generally accepted opinion. You can get skin cancer by being in the sun too long, no matter what you eat. Smoking will give you throat and lung cancer, although I guess you could call that "eating" of sorts. I don't know why I'm giving examples though, as the science is definitely not with this opinion of yours.
That is false.
There is a penalty, a tax, IF I am mandated to wear a seat belt and I do NOT and I get pulled over.
Are you trying to say there is NO cost to me to send my child to school?
I won't fight a government mandate to wear clothes in public, but I have yet to find free clothes. And who is going to fine me for going naked.
Anything the government requires US to do under a mandate is a tax. Because someone is required to enforce said mandate and that means people are hired to enforce a mandate.
I think you need to re-figure what a mandate is and does.
First of all, this is not about winning slots in school, it is about in-state tuition rates. There isn’t a specific number of slots for “in-state tuition”, so the issue there is simply whether children of illegal immigrants should be allowed to go to college at all.
I looked over your comments and I agree ....I remember getting a polio shot in the 50’s I bet it was mandated. Im not a Dr. but to eradicate many diseases it is necessary to get the entire population to get vaccinated.
I would bet that what Perry did was for the benefit of the populace.
However I think health professionals figure there will always be a certain number of cranks around who wont get a shot.... and they live with it
So I bet those in Texas who are up in arms about this can simply ignore what they should do and go about being stupid,
good remarks
I can’t believe the sorry reasoning...if that’s what it can even be called.
I have made the point several times...if Perry raised huge sums of money, total, from many, many, many sources, then no single, ordinary sized contribution is meaningful in terms of being “bought”.
That is true reasoning.
It is pathetic reasoning to claim that anyone who makes the point that 5 thou is so small in the scheme of things it doesn’t buy the donor anything, is thereby stating that they could be bought for a greater sum.
Pitiful.
We who truly reason are presenting to those who aren’t in reasoning mode due to their political committments, the facts. The facts are, an ordinary sized contribution within a huge sum of multiple donations is - on its face - not capable of buying anything.
In return, we get...oh, but you’re admitting a larger contribution WOULD buy you.
No, we’re reasoning from obvious facts that people such as yourself have happily ignored in pursuit of political interests.
Yes, I favor lifevests for people going into the water, especially if they are going boating. I woulnd’t “mandate” it, but I certainly favor it. On the other hand, the BSA mandates it, and I don’t think they are dictatorial, they just really care about keeping the kids safe, and don’t see the point of taking needless risks.
A breathing apparatus would be essentially useless in a bathtub; you’d as likely mess up and kill yourself with it as drown in the tub.
If you could take a shot that would prevent you from drowning for the rest of your life, you can bet I’d take it, and give it to my kids.
There’s no real comparison between a vaccine and an “apparatus”
And anyway, my entire point which you quoted was that it was silly to pretend that the vaccine didn’t save lives. That has nothing to do with what you “favor”. Someone claimed the vaccine was worthless. It isn’t.
You know, I've enjoyed the discussion in this thread tonight. People have been adamant about their positions, and have spoken harshly about candidates, but whether I agreed or not, I appreciated what was being said.
Then I hit your comment, and it just knocked me off-kilter. I think it's because of the childish knick-name use. I think that's what spins people up on other threads as well, that when people don't like a candidate, instead of voicing thier dissapproval, they feel it necessary to make up some cute, infantile name for the candidate.
That is one thing I haven't seen -- anybody making up a name for Sarah Palin.
Of course I look forward to referring to POTUS 45 by those names :)
‘Hands over hearts for all eight. (unlike Obama).’
Was baby-sitting - saw none of this.
You say the candidates had their hands over their hearts when ‘The National Anthem’ was sung? (Badly . . .)
This stuff is making me crazy.
And I think it’s confusing a lot of people.
I can tell they are not sure - - -
We NEVER had our hands over hearts when singing the Anthem - all these years.
And I’ve lived from NY, to MD, to NM, to CA, and we NEVER did this.
This phony stuff started when pictures of Obama doing the ‘crotch’ shot were published.
If Obama’s hand was not over his heart when reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, then that is wrong. It is not wrong, however, to then drop the hand when singing, or listening to the Anthem.
I think people wanted to show what an idiot Obama was for not having his hand over his heart, but it’s not necessary - we have other proof of that!
I am not aware the ‘rule’ was changed - was there a memo I missed?!
If some care to do this, fine.
But I hope that doesn’t get to mean that I am wrong when I don’t.
Some of that money came from the feds.
Federal funding to boost Alaska's vaccine program - June 4, 2007
Earlier this spring, the [Alaska Department of Health and Social Services] had said it could provide free Gardasil only to Alaska girls who met certain eligibility requirements. Since then, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provided additional funds for Alaska to obtain more vaccine. This boost in federal aid will enable more Alaska girls to receive Gardasil.
So sorry for your hearing loss! Yes, I was joking about the awful Dan Savage. Obviously, you remember the story.
Yes, yes, Texans are the greatest Americans. All tall, silent types except, seemingly, when they come on FR, where they never stop bragging about their greatness.
You definitely made some good points! Thanks.
What do you want? Feats of strength? ;)
“Gov Palin has already called out Perry for crony capitalism long before tonight!”
When did she do that.... she endorsed Gov Perry.
You're kidding right? First off, many of these schools needs a certain number of out-of-state students so they can meet payroll... so you're wrong right off the bat. If you believe otherwise your crazy. Second, this is an INCENTIVE that promotes the unarmed invasion of our country, which is exactly what is going on.
