Everyone's terrified of Rick Perry: lefties, righties, and definitely those coyotes he says he executes while jogging. Politico's Ben Smith and Maggie Haberman report that Perry has done what up to this point President Obama could not: "wake up the left." Activists--involved in everything from the death penalty, women's rights, gun control, and campaign finance--are just cold freaking the heck out. "To the degree to which progressives are disaffected and unenthusiastic -- this is their 'holy sh**' moment," Jennifer Palmieri, head of the Center for American Project Action Fund, told Politico. It's funny because many conservatives -- not just the dreaded establishment! -- think it's their own 'holy sh**' moment too."...
ping-a-ling!
So now the latest attack on Perry is, don’t nominate him because you will wake up the sleeping left and they will be energized to re-elect Obama. Good strategy..... not!
No Panic among Border Criminals!
Certainly has a 1980 feel to it, though Perry is NO Reagan.
Even Reagan could not carry California today.
Instead of changing their policies, the Left has adopted the strategy in past decades of changing the voters, in order to have a voting base that is impervious to policy failure. Amnesty would be the finishing touch on that strategy.
(thanks Right Brother)
They should be afraid. Perry’s in his fourth term as governor of Texas, and has never lost an election in his life. He’s not perfect, but he’s clearly a dire threat to Barack Obama. And to a lot of the other Republican candidates, who are largely flawed themselves or lightweights by comparison.
Newsflash!! Conservatives have not been the "establishment" for decades.
While many on the right criticize Perry’s prior Democratic credentials - that could also be used to persuade current disaffected democrats that they too can “come to Jesus”.
Perry can empathize with the average Dem that he once, like them, believed the Dem Party was for middle class Americans and free market concepts.
He should stress that he came to the realization that he could no longer support the Dem Party in the direction it was headed and is both dismayed and appalled at the blatant anti-American, Marxist, socialist perversion that its leaders now represent.
“THEY WANT PERRY TO WIN” They also want Bachmann, Palin, Santorum, and a few others to win. In fact the only ones that might keep them asleep are Romney and the Chinese ambassador guy (darn this old age memory thing).
Yeah, we better nominate Mitt so everyone can stay asleep.
The quote you post does not say that they were. Read it again.
The article does raise one interesting point. Perry tells the truth about SS. Are Americans willing to hear the truth? From what I’ve seen on FR, I’d say the answer is an unequivocal “no.”
I am a libertarian leaning conservative. I can vote for Perry especially over RinoRom. Is he everything I want? No but combined with an ever more conservative house it will work.
SCOTUS appointments are not worth holding out for my perfect candidate.
