I am a libertarian leaning conservative. I can vote for Perry especially over RinoRom. Is he everything I want? No but combined with an ever more conservative house it will work.
SCOTUS appointments are not worth holding out for my perfect candidate.
Question for you about your libertarian leaning. I used to say I was more libertarian than Republican until I read what they stand for on their own web site. My question is, do you know what they want/stand for?
From their own site they stand for: Abortion on demand, gay marriage, legalization of all drugs, legalization of prostitution, and open borders. The only thing I found that I agreed with them on was their gun rights stance and wanting smaller government. The rest of their ideas are just the same crap liberals want.
Since I learned exactly what they stand for I have determined that I am a Republican and a strong conservative one.
Yeah, I can live with a Tea Party Congress and a President Perry. It will require some pretty constant involvement from us citizens, however, and probably more than we’re used to.
“SCOTUS appointments are not worth holding out for my perfect candidate.”
SCOTUS appointments affect or prohibit policy changes for decades, without losing their office; a President for eight years at most, a Senator for six years and a representative in the House for two. Whose actions have the potential for the most far reaching and longest term? SCOTUS.
SCOTUS appointments are the most consequential actions that a President has the power to affect.
If there is some reason to NOT vote for a GOP POTUS contender on that issue, it would be reason enough for me to NOT vote for them - all other issues aside.
