The tactic is to get an entire neighborhood to go into the bank on the same day and open an account for the minimum amount (often $1) and overwhelm the bank so that it can’t do legitimate business.

I though most banks had minimums ($100?) for opening accounts. Had not heard of this.

It was a Naderite tactic in the 1970s, when minimums were far less prevalent. The same type of people bought one single share in a public company so they could get into the annual meeting and raise a stink.

They probably do now, but many got “caught” without such a policy and would have been sued for “discrimination” if they tried to enforce that policy when they got mobbed.

uhh....hate to say it, but if they declare war, they’ll get war, and it ain’t gonna end good for their side.

Exactly when they move from moocher to looter they actually become much easier to deal with. Moochers use sympathy and hence are hard to be rid of. It isn't easy to raise an army to wipe out poor helpless people. Even if they are running you broke.

But the minute you take up arms you become a threat. And hardwired deep in the human psyche is the idea that the best way to deal with a threat is to blow its head off. Oh they might be able to intimidate in the short run. But if the people ever get the advantage on a looter it is over quickly. Look at what is happening in Libya right now. Qaddafi ruled through fear. The moment that fear is gone those who backed him are finding themselves at the bottom of in shallow holes in the desert.
