Approximately 65 million people are likely to be directly impacted by Hurricane Irene as the storm takes aim at the densely populated Eastern Seaboard. Evacuations are underway for high flood risk areas.
Mass transit cancellations, schedule changes and road/bridge closures are occurring throughout the storm warning areas. Please check with local news and Emergency Management Operations to determine the recommendations for your immediate area.

You are repeating yourself ad nauseum about media hype. One could say that you are hyping yourself in the process. Please know that we understand you are drooling to give a post mortem on the media coverage. However, you are comparing forecasts from 72+ hours ago into your critique of today’s storm status. We call that manipulation of the data to suit your story. Enough already. If you want to discuss the adequacy of media coverage for Hurricane Irene, start your own thread.

When they go to commercial - the stream blanks and from time to time a popup asks if you want to continue streaming.
I don’t have television but I can listen to both CNN and Fox on my satellite radio. I cannot endure more than a few minutes of either.
The Raleigh folks seem to be able to restrain themselves a little.

Home town heroes!
We had the most beautiful, crystal clear weather on the west coast of FL while Irene was passing by off the east coast. One morning, it almost felt like fall was just around the corner. Today, we're back to the usual hot and steamy.
Looks to me now as if Irene will be passing through NYC at low tide, but CT will be caught more at high tide.
It will be passing thru NY for hours upon hours. I don’t think it misses high tide.
That is going to be a key factor. Oddly enough, I've heard twice this morning NJ/NY would occur during high tide. IIRC, high tide between Atlantic City and NYC is 7-8AM tomorrow. Of course, everything depends on Irene's forward speed.
