Approximately 65 million people are likely to be directly impacted by Hurricane Irene as the storm takes aim at the densely populated Eastern Seaboard. Evacuations are underway for high flood risk areas.
Mass transit cancellations, schedule changes and road/bridge closures are occurring throughout the storm warning areas. Please check with local news and Emergency Management Operations to determine the recommendations for your immediate area.

We’re on the road and have passed two cara
vans
of emergency response teams. We saw generators being moved as well as repair crews. This was on I85 going toward Atlanta. I imagine they’re heasing into the storm.
It's not as though I have anything else in the world to do but chase down politically acceptable source references on this thread. I was trying to be helpful in responding to a question. I used Snopes because the search engine indicated it appeared to answer the question. Perhaps you have time answer the question in a more appropriate manner.
I probably wouldn’t notice if I lost power, I live on a boat that runs mostly on DC
Thanks ...she did call me an hour or so ago and said she and her bf are going to their roommates’ family’s house further inland for the weekend ...seems they all woke up and decided to do something about it! (or they got an offer from the family).
Thank goodness ...now all they have to do is get out on the highways and get there ...but they’re going by bus.
:)
I'm pretty sure I have seen videos of the Guard at the Tomb during the hurricane. Maybe search at YouTube?
I know some in that area are powerful pray warriors...I’m sure that helped to pull in the dry air.

Totally agree with you about Bloomberg. He’s a tiny little nanny who not only has the worst nasal voice in the world, he mispronounces words like crazy (”pitcher” for “picture,” “anyways” for “anyway”). Maybe that’s how they speak where he originally came from. Thoroughly unbearable. Yes, Christie does give much better news conferences. Guiliani, in my humble opinion, gave the best.
Ugh. I would not trade it right now, for what my LI is bout to experience, but. . .
Oh, there’s his droning, silly voice, now, on TWC. Doesn’t he know that it was just the AF wanting to get back to base to secure their aircraft and he can go off & eat ice cream in DC & we won’t mind?
LOL You can tell I haven’t gone before. We will be at my sister’s church then. I would love to hear your group sing.
You volunteered to answer the question.
That sounds about right to me. They will most likely be needed somewhere.
And you have volunteered to criticize my effort to be helpful, rather than offering to assist in answering a question. You also found time to compliment little Michael Bloomberg. It seems we have very different priorities. Have a nice evening.
Totally agree with you. The comment was uncalled for.
Take this kooky babble off the thread.
Interesting webcam.
Doesn’t look like a fun place to be in that type of weather.
According to weather.com, winds are gusting from 33 - 40 mph - and projected to go higher.
For aircraft, the time to get out of the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast is RIGHT NOW.
It’s gonna be a LONG night for me. My largest customer is sending me 30 East Coast RON aircraft by morning, and I have to find a place to put them all.
ROFL!
Have disaster .. will travel.
