I’m in the Midlands in SC and I felt it. Just that little vibration/sway when you aren’t sure if it is your nerves or not. I knew though from my California days what it was and went to the usgs site and sure enough, reported 2 minutes prior in NC.

I take it you’ve seen this.

Still ‘shook up’ but thinking I’m glad I wasn’t at Luray or any of the other caverns!

I felt it in Dover, Delaware, on the third floor of a three-story building. It lasted about fifteen seconds, and I bolted like a bat out of hell down the stairs and out the door. The Japanese have a saying: In case of earthquake, run upstairs, because upstairs is a good place to be when upstairs becomes downstairs...

nah...no earthquake happening here in NC. That’s just the foundation guys outside my house jacking up the footing/foundation.
Seriously, I’m sure there was a quake...but my house was being “bumped” up on steel piers in 4 different places while the quake was happening. And, there were some strong bumps. I’d have never known the difference...except I’m writing these guys a check for $4500 today, and quakes are free. :-)

From experience here in Southern California, I can tell you that it’s not uncommon at all to hear a rumble as the earthquake wave closes in on you. It could quite easily be thought of as sounding something like thunder.
If you are standing outside, you can see the wave coming towards you, if you can look down a highway or another flat surface. You can also see telephone polls affected by the quake as it moves in your direction.
I was on the phone with someone about 50 miles away once, when a quake rolled by them. It took a fair amount of time to get to where I was, say fifteen to thirty seconds, perhaps a bit more seconds. I don’t remember the exact time it took any longer.

I hate it when you Californians get all uppity over quakes. How about if we send you some hurricanes and tornadoes? Hurricane, no problem. You can keep the tornado, thanks. There's a reason I don't live in the midwest!

Im in Texas, didnt feel a thing. Here in Arizona nothing either. Rick Perry is not yet president and he is already making DC inconsequential in our lives. That's the kind of president I want.

Yup, a shallow quake can be devestating even when it’s low on the scale.

Some food for thought.. DOUBLE CORONAL HOLE: A double-barreled hole has opened up in the sun's atmosphere and it is spewing a split-stream of solar wind toward Earth. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured this composite UV image of the double coronal hole on August 20th: Sky watchers should be alert for auroras when the solar wind arrives on August 22-24.

This is really weird. I’m on the outskirts of Dallas (east side) and at almost this same exact time we had something like a mini-twister move through. Clear sky and extremely hot, rattled the doors and windows for maybe 10-15 seconds. Blew violently one direction and then reversed and blew the opposite direction.

Yes and no, Megyn Kelly reporting a "one line message" that the Washington Monument is tilting.
I would take it with a grain of salt until confirmed....
