At a small, exclusive New York City fundraiser Thursday night featuring the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, Obama compared himself and his agenda to that of Martin Luther King Jr.
And now that King has his own memorial on the Mall I think that we forget when he was alive there was nobody who was more vilified, nobody who was more controversial, nobody who was more despairing at times. There was a decade that followed the great successes of Birmingham and Selma in which he was just struggling, fighting the good fight, and scorned, and many folks angry. But what he understood, what kept him going, was that the arc of moral universe is long but it bends towards justice. But it doesnt bend on its own. It bends because all of us are putting our hand on the arc and we are bending it in that direction. And it takes time. And its hard work. And there are frustrations.

I think he should compare himself to Ronald McDonald.

Potential “Martin Luther Obama, Jr.” quotes:
“Ask not what you con do for your country but what your country can do for you”
“I have a dream that my two little children will one day live in a nation where they will be judged by the color of their skin, not by the content of their character.”

MLK liked women. BHO likes ?

It’s ironic, a white man led the way to free the slaves. A black man is going to enslave the white man.
To: Young Werther
Weeeeelllll, granted, they’re both African-Americans, but I’d say that’s where the comparison ends.

Obama Compares Himself to Martin Luther King It's a really old trick but it's all Obama and his supporters have this time around.
2008 was Obama b.s. like hope and change, duped dummies, and $$$$$$$$$$
Now that he's proven how incompetent he is the only thing he's got are the Civil Rights industry's patented screams of Ra-a-a-a-a-cism!!
His claim means nothing more than we should expect to be subjected to 24/7 attempts to rattle Americans with screeching and caterwauling accusing us of racism!
Conservative black Americans will of course be condemned as "race traitors."
I've been through this crap from about 1960 to.. well I guess, now.

As distasteful as Obama's self comparison to King was, he was hardly the true blue solid conservative some on this thread are claiming...
And who was Martin King? In 1955 he was a big-dream utopian who euphemistically identified himself as an anti-capitalist. He was, in truth, a starry-eyed Marxist who only four years earlier had written this personal manifesto:
I am conviced [sic] that capitalism has seen its best days in American [sic], and not only in America, but in the entire world. It is a well known fact that no social institute [sic] can survive when it has outlived its usefullness [sic]. This, capitalism has done. It has failed to meet the needs of the masses.
We need only to look at the underlying developements [sic] of our society. There is a definite revolt by, what Marx calls, the preletarian, [sic] against the bourgeoise [sic]
. What will eventually happen is this, labor will become so power [sic] (this was certainly evidenced in the recent election) that she will be able to place a president in the White House. This will inevitably bring about a nationalization of industry. That will be the end of capitalism. . . there is a definite move away from capitalism, whether we conceive of it as conscious or unconscious Capitalism finds herself like a losing football team in the last quarter trying types of tactics to survive.
Martin King wrote this drivel at a time when communist totalitarians were condemning billions of people to lives of poverty, mediocrity and fear. The FBI had good reason to be concerned that someone who was so foolish as to embrace the false promise of Marxism might become the charismatic leader of millions of poorly educated and discontented black folks. Martin King was forever prattling about an imagined link between the needs of American blacks and the anti-colonial struggles of people in the Third World. King surrounded himself with dedicated Communists. Kings advisor Hunter Pitts (Jack) ODell was a veteran Communist Party organizer in New Orleans. Martin Kings advisor Stanley Levison was a financier for the Communist Party. Kings most trusted advisor and strategist Bayard Rustin began his activism with the Young Communist League.

MLK was a Republican like all blacks until the Kennedy phone call in 1960 that was heavily politicized. Even though the black ministers endorsed Nixon, MLK was neutral, but favored Kennedy because of the phone call to MLK’s wife while he was in jail.

Martin Luther King was a consistent opponent of war. Obama, by contrast, is wall-street funded warmonger.
