CNBC just broke in and told the audience that the President has requested airtime and will speak to the nation at 1300hrs EST (12 noon central, 10 AM PST) on the US national debt downgrade.

My apologies if someone else posted this, but...
Since 10:00 EST the Dow was averaging a daily loss of about 320. But once a$$hat opened his mouth in front of the cameras, the hemorrhaging began anew and now it's off 450.
