Is America Ready for 'George W. Bush on Steroids'?
The Atlantic ^ | AUG 6 2011 | JOSHUA GREEN

HOUSTON -- The days leading up to "The Response," Texas Gov. Rick Perry's prayer rally at Reliant Stadium, had looked a little grim for the governor and the event's organizers. Only about 7,000 people had confirmed that they would attend a venue that seats 71,500, and the controversial roster of sponsors -- including the American Family Association, which is labeled a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center -- drew as much attention as the event's stated purpose of praying and fasting for the nation's improvement.

- SNIP -

I thought the day's shrewdest political insight came from Dr. Richard Land, the former president of the Southern Baptist Convention and a sixth-generation Texan, who I bumped into in the hallway after Perry spoke. "If he runs, he'll be a strong candidate," Land told me. "He's a charismatic figure. I think about him on stage with the other candidates and he'll stand out. He's not a wallflower. But the most interesting question for me is whether the country is ready for somebody who looks and sounds like George W. Bush on steroids."

favoring amnesty, I don't agree with his original stand, but he actually is against open borders now. The LT Gov killed the sanctuary bill, and we do have voter ID and proof of citizenship to get an ID now. the NAFTA Highway, He got an ear full from voters and decided to pull that crap out of his agenda. insisting young girls get Gardasil shots, etc., etc.. Again, he got more than an ear full from voters and decided to pull that out of his agenda. In other words, he listens to the voters, especially on unpopular issues.

Sadly, your defense of him highlights the problem... and that problem is COMMON SENSE! It's one of the first things to disappear with politicians...

When you read each one of those items, did you have ANY problem immediatley determining any of them to be a problem. I didn't... But apparently Perry did and had to be "convinced" by the voters...

Do you REALLY want this guy to be able to issue EO's with little or no check and balance from congress or the people?

And I know who we are fighting... Just food for thought while we decide... And I'm praying for rain for TX!

As for the crowd, fat, ugly, dumb and stupid.

They probably blame that on Rick Perry too! :)

He looks like a crooked televangelist who would sell his soul.

However, I have no doubt he will be our next prez if we don’t go into Martial law.

Where’s that pic of the little boy saying “That’s racist”......Sorry, I had to laugh at your conversation here.

Seriously though, how can you judge every person in a state by one person?

Just go about half way down this page of links on implementation of the UN/International/socialist agenda. http://users.sisqtel.net/armstrng/agenda21.htm Take a look at what was implemented Administratively in the Clinton, Bush, then Obama White House. Obama is Clinton/Gore on steroids in implementing a foreign agenda to the destruction of our liberties, property and Constitution. He has gotten his momentum and is rushing to destroy all he can at break neck speeds, by-passing Congress all-together.

There are many Republicans on the International train, just like Obama. Newt is one of them. Bush may have been a corporate capitalist whore and could not keep the spending in check, but he was not an Internationalist that I can see.

Where is Perry on this?

What happened with the sanctuary cities bill is that Attorney General Greg Abbott suggested revision of the language in order to make it Constitutional according to case law. Steve Hotze and Norm Adams opposed the new language and urged the House to kill it. https://www.texasobserver.org/lalinea/perry-breaks-with-big-bidness-tx-republican-party-and-his-former-sel

Even the lefty Texas Observer said that the Governor sent Armbrister to the Senate where he “twisted arms” to get the Bill passed. https://www.texasobserver.org/lalinea/perry-breaks-with-big-bidness-tx-republican-party-and-his-former-sel

I think many here would rather see a permanent liberal majority than not have their particular person in office.

No -- many of us realize that this time, it's for all the marbles, and we cannot make the mistake of nominating another go along-get along RINO, an establishment pol, a stealth moderate, globalist, open borders, slower-route-to-hell, Republican.

We've got to stick to our guns and put forth that candidate who is a true reformer, and who will not hesitate to knock heads off Commies or RINOs to fix this country. In short, we need someone who is nearly willing to die to get the job done (I can think of only one).

We know that the foundations of this country are buckling, and that another milquetoast country clubber isn't going to stop the collapse from occurring.

If we can't get the absolute best possible fighter elected next November, then let us prepare for the inevitable 'reset'. To hell with compromise. That's what got us where we are today. Compromise is simply saying to the Commies, "Thank you, sir, may I have another?"

NO! We stand. We fight. We take our country back one way or another!

“Americans are ready for whomever the GOP runs against that POS Obama.”

Exactly!

Even now, when we have all seen Obama’s destructive presidency, some “conservatives” are more interested in bashing Bush, but not Obama.

Exactly! Well said.
