'I believe that I can win a national election,' Sarah Palin declared one recent evening, sitting in the private dining room of a hotel in rural Iowa. The occasion for her visit to quintessential small-town America was a gathering of the faithful that would have instantaneously erupted into a fervent campaign rally had she but given the word. Instead, it had been another day on the noncampaign trail, this one capped by a sweet victory: she had just attended the premiere of a glowingly positive documentary about her titled The Undefeated.
The people of America are desperate for positive change, and deserving of positive change, to get us off of this wrong track, she told me during a conversation that lasted late into the night and, inevitably, kept returning to the subject that has titillated the media and spooked Republican presidential contenders for months: her political intentions. Im not so egotistical as to believe that it has to be me, or it can only be me, to turn things around, she said. But I do believe that I can win.

If Palin doesnt end up running, the reason will be simple, she said. Family. If it came down to the family just saying, Please, Mom, dont do this, then that would be the deal-killer for me, because your familys gotta be in it with you.

The mainstream press is becoming less and less relevant, she said, adding that she would have no hesitation in shunning media outlets she does not trust.
I would say no to those who have lied about me. There is no need to reward bad behavior. Ive learned. You know, once bitten, twice shy. I have learned.

“Palin is fearless. You might do more to try to follow her example.”
Don’t get cute with me Sparky, as I’ve likely done things in my life that would make you pi$$ your pants.
I’m a staunch Palin advocate, I think she’s the most honest, straightforward and ideologically sympatico (with me) candidate I know.
If she runs I’ll back her 1000%. My point was that she has and will receive more negative press than any candidate that the Republican party has ever offered up. It will energize the left and hopefully the right, the independents, who knows.
She exemplifies the best that America has to offer in both the political and private arena. I’m sorry I feel a little fatherly toward her but it’s my nature. If that happen to disgust you than FO.

Yes, but should she announce or become the Republican nominee, it will get worse, a lot lot worse.

They tried to burn down her church with people in it. There’s only one more level for them to go to.
very nice reading, very fair and basically positive....but VERY FAIR
Oh how interesting...thanks for that info...
At the end of the film, Andrew Breitbart criticizes the male Republican establishment for silently standing by, calling them eunuchs. When we spoke, Palin agreed with that assessment but added, It wasnt just the menit was conservative women who stood by, too. I went out there and I supported them in their campaigns, and I put some of them on the map. And to this day, we have not heard from them...Im not wired that way.
Palin said that when she heard her friend Nikki Haley was accused of having had an affair with a staffer when she was running for governor of South Carolina, she picked up the telephone. I called her and I asked her, and she said, No, its not true. I immediately did a statement saying, She says its not true. Lay off.
Hmmm! I wonder which women or woman didn’t defend her against scurrilous attacks after she supported their campaign? *cough* *cough*
I have never u8nderstood this as Palin is far closer to Goldwater than she is to Reagan.
All Western libertarians.
Reagan also had a communist advisor in his WH...and never knew it..given to him by Nancy...
Steaming pile of lies and half truths that have repeatedly been addressed in context.
McCain camp never tried to get out there and tell the American people who Sarah was....they let the MSM defined her for them. All thanks to Steve Schmidt and Nicole Wallace
Can they ever just put out a Palin article without the exact word usage, as they do for others. I’m sure Obama never, ever said “gonna’ or ‘puttin’ or anythin’ like that even when he’s doing his jive talk imitation.
If they were all done equally, it would be fine, but they are trying to cast Gov Palin in particular as too unsophisticated to speak the way a president, in the estimation of the MSM, should. (in other words, like most Americans)
well Bachmann is one. but I’m disappointed in my own congresswoman Ellmers too for not standing up for Palin. If not for Palin ellmers would have never won.
Every liberal proctology reporter has prodded and probed Palin to the point the media has nothing left to try on Palin.
Name the commie, please.
Sweet! But that's not tundra. "Tundra" is where she shot the caribou last year. This is probably just the side of the street going by her house. That's fireweed blooming. It's everywhere in July. It means the "summer" is half over. :o(
I went back and listened to a clip where Governor Palin was being interviewed by Greta during the bus tour. She did say things like ‘where every stop’s gonna be’, ‘where we’re goin’ and ‘what we’re doin’. So I suspect the quote in the Newsweek article was verbatim.
