Teachers are facing a $10 hike in dues by the union to fund Obama's reelection campaign. They have no choice but to pay these dues.
The fee is automatically deducted from our paychecks. I have complained to my union rep...and have been written off as a rightwing crank.
$15 in pac money per member is still $48 million. But from his $900 per year in union dues and your $1200... if those are typical the NEA pulls in close to $3 billion and creates absolutely NOTHING.
are there any high visibility websites that enable conservative teachers to discuss/reveal what’s going on at their school while maintaining their annonimity before their leftist co-workers?

Big Labor is a criminal enterprise.
In CA, if you want to teach (or other work another public job... police, fire, etc) you're required to pay dues whether a member or not. You will never see the money because dues are pre-deducted just like taxes.
And we know that's not just for commercials.
The 10 bucks is PROTECTION money. It’s organized, but legal, extortion, just like with the MOB.
In most states, dues come right out of your check. You don’t get to choose to pay them or not, they’re deducted.
Talk about a scam.
We also have a next door neighbor, a good friend and our daughter who are teachers and they all told the unions to take a leap.

union employees could not be required to pay full union dues if some of those funds
were to be used for activities unrelated to collective bargaining. Under § 8(a)(3) of

into a contractual agreement requiring all employees in the bargaining unit to pay
union dues as a condition of employment no matter whether such employees became
union members or not.

It sets us right off too. Twenty years back, I hounded the wife about quitting the NEA. I remember her telling me, You like me teaching or do you want me to be a stay at home mum? We talked to a former teacher who had been fired after she left the NEA. The teacher made it abundantly clear it was SOP and if my wife dropped out of the NEA; she would face the same retribution. Honestly, that cooled my quit the NEA ideas and for as bad as those buggers are; glad it did. We have two kids in school, $3500/month. No aid, but also no loans. Wifey’s teaching pay check pays for our kid’s education. Some things you just have to live with, no matter how foul & awful it seems.
I saw the Michigan teacher on Fox and he said he is against the union but is powerless to do anything. The union is compulsory and the dues are deducted from his salary, including the increase. The union deducts ^$960 per year from his earnings.
He has no say in the matter.
I have a member of my extended family who is a retired teacher. By all appearances he is a solid Tea Party conservative.
Which really irritates me because up until the day he retired he would swallow the Union party line hook, line and sinker. Even if he did not really agree with them he’d go along because “it was about getting the money”.
Guess he’s already got his pension so it’s safe to become a Conservative now.
my hubby did quit - and the only ones who cared were fellow teachers. Administration didn’t give a rip. He was a good teacher so never had a problem with them.
I also have my teaching cert, been to many in-services, heard all the anti-conservative remarks (usually about funding and tax increases). They can and do get rid of any teacher they so like if you rock the boat.
I hear all the claims by fellow conservatives concerning just quitting the NEA. It's just so far fetched from reality from what I have witnessed over the last twenty years that I question the validity. Around 30% of NEA members are conservative. Makes sense if quitting the NEA was so free & easy, that 30% be out quick;;; and they are not.
that’s because they keep stealing your wages even after you quit. They just steal about $20 less or so.
Here - I see a marked difference between administrators and teachers unions.
The unions make it nearly impossible for administrators to manage bad teachers. The unions are without mercy in how they demonize their bosses.
So - I’m skeptical about this notion that administrators are in lock-step with the NEA.
I don’t doubt that some are - but there is alot of animosity out there too.
As an average, new (public school)
teachers in the pipeline come from the bottom 20% of their class ranking. They have no real motivation to be much more.
And that is the REAL reason unions bused in thugs to protest Walker's budget in Wisconsin. It stops the automatic deduction for union dues. I'm delighted - every time I asked for a refund of the money spent on political campaigns, I was told my union didn't spend any money on campaigns. Technically, my CHAPTER did not, but they paid into the AFT.
