Teachers are facing a $10 hike in dues by the union to fund Obama's reelection campaign. They have no choice but to pay these dues.
One has seen the light. 20 million more to go.
What fools.
Let every teacher refuse to pay and see what the then powerless unions can do. It would be like the mass civil disobedience operations of the 60’s and 70’s that rendered law enforcement moot.
Our local school system employees each received a $2,000 “stimulus” bonus from our Marxist government last year.
The $10 union demand is only the first of at least several more to come. Hussein will need a mountain of it buy another term.
At least we have the pleasure of knowing our tax money will be used to slice our own throats.
Wait and see if this teacher does quit, or what happens to him if he does. In most school districts we have been in, teachers are fired for this or that down the road soon after dropping out of the NEA, just reality and not much that can be done about no matter what anybody may think. Many teachers disagree with the NEA but aren’t willing to lose their career after 20 years and just stay out of the politics. Our NEA dues are around $1200/year. Nea claims they only spend $15 of that on pacs and will reimburse that amount, and no more.
My next door neighbor is a union teacher. Hates the union and is a good republican. She keeps quiet at school but is one of us when she gets home. Wonder how many of them there are out there?
No doubt any childless unemployed adults in the area will appreciated teacher salvation via this gift of future taxpayers to save our economy.
Well they need to speak up.
Doing nothing, and paying the dues, is the same as being for it.
You would be surprised at just how many there are.
They should have gone to jail...
“Let every teacher refuse to pay “
That is a problem since most union due’s are deducted from the members paycheck prior to them getting it. I believe some right to work states don’t allow this but it is the practice in most.
Got to love it, the union memebers are trapped they are forced to pay this.
Qui tacet consitere
My guess is, more teachers that can do this, are doing this. But they aren’t going to go on the air and tell people.
I would be very surprised if this man doesn’t get serious repercussions against him by fellow marxist teachers.
Count my wife in that group, though she is not a teacher, she works for the school ditstrict and is in the same Union. Her silence on this has been such that they (local union leaders) actually approached her to be part of the negotiation team!
In democrat-controlled states, union membership is typically mandatory and taken from the paycheck, even if the employee does not want to be part of the union.
Wisconsin teachers in a public school are legally required to belong to the union. There is no mixed shop in the state.
That’s where my wife is. She quit the corporate world (she did very well in a corp 500 company) to pursue her first love - teaching. She is not surprised, but constantly amazed at the liberal mindset & frequent pettiness of her union co-workers.
But she must keep a low profile on her conservative views.
He pays $900 in dues per year? If others pay comparably that's $2,880,000,000 in annual dues. Good Grief! That's more than Facebook's 2010 revenue.
In California, thanks to law signed by Democrat Governor Grey Davis, public employees MUST pay union dues regardless of membership.
Way more than you'd think.
I just retired last month after 25 years teaching in an Alternative High School. When I started, almost everybody was a rank and file dembot that shivered when I'd mention Reagan or G.H.W. Bush. Last year I sort of thought about it before I retired and I'd say that almost half of the staff in our school thought that 0 was nuts and that the dem's were actually anti-American. The staff seemed even more pizzed at the NEA for the way it has come to almost demand your money and more or less tell you how they'll spend it politically for you.
In Illinoisistan, NEA members have the option of having what they call the political portion of your dues returned to you if you request. Over the years I'd informed the staff of this option to the point that the Ill-NEA representative called the school and asked what was happening and decided that from that point each teacher had to request their own refund form from the state office. Last year more than half of our teachers requested the refund.
I feel good about my part in that. Not there yet, but it's much better than it was.
