Strauss-Kahn Case Seen as in Jeopardy

The sexual assault case against Dominique Strauss-Kahn is on the verge of collapse as investigators have uncovered major holes in the credibility of the housekeeper who charged that he attacked her in his Manhattan hotel suite in May, according to two well-placed law enforcement officials.

Although forensic tests found unambiguous evidence of a sexual encounter between Mr. Strauss Kahn, a French politician, and the woman, prosecutors do not believe much of what the accuser has told them about the circumstances or about herself.

Since her initial allegation on May 14, the accuser has repeatedly lied, one of the law enforcement officials said.

Senior prosecutors met with lawyers for Mr. Strauss-Kahn on Thursday and provided details about their findings, and the parties are discussing whether to dismiss the felony charges. Among the discoveries, one of the officials said, are issues involving the asylum application of the 32-year-old housekeeper, who is Guinean, and possible links to criminal activities, including drug dealing and money laundering.

Prosecutors and defense lawyers will return to State Supreme Court in Manhattan on Friday morning, when Justice Michael J. Obus is expected to consider easing the extraordinary bail conditions that he imposed on Mr. Strauss-Kahn in the days after he was charged.

What do her alleged criminal activities have to do with whether he raped her or not?

Maybe she is lying and it was sex and not rape. The prosecutors seem to think it is possible.

She can always sue in civil court if this one is recalcitrant.

I hear that a new international financial services firm is going to be opening up: Strauss-Kahn and Geitner. With offices in New York and Paris, they will be handling hundreds of billions of dollars to start, and eventually they hope to manage millions of dollars.

So she is only lying about her own possible crimes? Isn’t that why no illegal aliens can ever get in trouble for being a witness or victim in CA due to their “undocumented status”? The big lawyers for the French rapist are going to win because the poor maid was involved in other crimes? She still does not deserve to be raped.

Wow, horny French guys, come on in, come rape our girls and poor maids! Season open. Be like your heroes, Strauss-Kahn and Polanski.

She does sound like a shady character mixed in with a criminal element, definitely someone whose asylum application should not be taken at face value.

That's a good one.

The prosecutors in the Sex Crimes Unit of the Manhattan DA’s office are the best in the business. I know a few of them personally. They are experienced and professional, and have seen it all. The District Attorney, Cyrus Vance, Jr., wouldn’t know a rape if it was committed against him. He is purely a political animal. Don’t think for a minute that international politics is not involved here.

Right, I well remember that whore in the Duke false rape fiasco. That didn’t slow the charges down one iota.

Looking at news releases, it appears tht his lawyers have let out a barrage of “information” in the last 25 minutes.

as a Conservative, I know about spin.

They may win, but it doesn’t mean he’s innocent!

Who is “her”?

I have a question. Why is it those making accusations of a crime are afforded anonymity? It certainly sounds as if Mr. Strausskahn is a real piece of work, though by the same token his past behavior should not be an issue either. See where I’m going with that?

Who says it’s phoney?

You’d rather let a cheese eating Frenchy Socialist go than convict him!!!!

His high priced attorneys have been going wild in the last 30 minutes on all news outlets!

Disgusting!

His past behavior as a rapist has everything to do with it. Whether or not she deals drugs has nothing to do with whether or not she was raped.

Personally, I hope he is innocent of the crime but is convicted anyway. That’s how much I detest socialists.

You guys are missing the point.

DSK was going to allow Greek defaults. Period. He already prepared necessary paperwork to allow it in Ireland.

He Had To Be Gotten Out Of The Way.

He was set up. Don’t think he won’t be vindictive, as the new president of France. He’ll be coming after the ECB and the Fed, and he’ll start by cutting a deal with Gadaffi.
