Christian conservatives looking to put a Republican in the White House heard a lot about the economy on Friday in a sign that their social issues may take a back seat in 2012.
Many political speakers at the Faith and Freedom Coalition, including Republican White House hopefuls, emphasized jobs, debt and deficits...
In contrast to some previous presidential campaigns, social issues like gay marriage and abortion have not been prominent topics for Republicans hopefuls seeking to replace President Barack Obama in next year's election.
The weakness of the economy has triggered a debate within the Republican Party about whether conservatives should call a "truce" on social questions.
The idea is that Republicans would have a better chance at victory in 2012 if they rally around economic issues....

I guess we see things differently.
TALK ABOUT ASKING FOR IT!
You are apparently unaware of what “censorship” entails. We’re guests in Jim’s house. He makes the rules. That’s not “censorship.”
That’s true, but I didn’t see a rule from Jim that stated that you had to support drug prohibition in order to post here. He said that you have to oppose abortion and gay marriage, which I do. I don’t believe that gays should have special rights or that babies should be a “choice.”
What a d1ckt!
Which is never, unless you want to force everyone into the same religion, say like Sharia?
Surely you’re not serious.
Jefferson wasn’t referring to eensy little things, the major things. Which are the same in all religions, even Buddhism.
You are such a FRiend! *hugs*
We keep on hearing this same disproven lie.
>> “When looking at the big picture, I dont think social issues are that important to governments.” <<
.
Nonsense.
Without government support, the DD up, DD down, ‘diversity’ agenda would have died 50 years ago.
*Hugs* to you too. Since you do the horrible job most of the time, I thought I’d leap up off my fat [unladylike word] and give you a hand for once. ;-)
Just the other day I was meandering through this one thread and all of the sudden some troll got the zot and guts flew every were! I was covered in the nasty stuff from head to toe and had to sneak off and take a shower (and I had to give my pimpbuster uniform a good cleaning too, as I happened to be wearing it at the time). I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed, but the foul troll smell just refused to come out for a long time. So I remembered that some people take tomato baths after they encounter a skunk, so I though, "Why not?" I filled up the bath with as much tomato sauce as I had (mixed with warm water) and just lay there for a while. When I came out, I smelled like a tomato, but the troll smell was mostly gone. I did some more rinsings and put on perfume after that so I am fine now.
Whatever you do, don't get to close to a troll about to be zotted!
Hey, I’m against all crony capitalism and subsidies. ;’)
Ah, now that’s really the million dollar question isn’t it? I’m pro-life, and I wouldn’t call myself anti-gay, but I’m against gay marriage and do indeed have a problem with gays being openly so around children. So certainly no one would call me pro-gay.
However, when I think of “social conservatives” I think of the Moral Majority protests outside of my neighborhood 7-11 in my youth. I had no use for them then, and I have no use for them now.
Well, if that's where we should start, maybe someone should take the time to explain how this moral change is going to come about. It's been my experience that individuals do not easily bear moral commandments from government.
You figure we can all just get along?
Generally I leave Islam out of the equation; but even in the Koran the general moral standards are the same. Aside from the “it’s fine to kill/lie to etc infidels” part.
But the moral standards (okay fine to leave Islam out) are virtually standard in Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, even Jainism and other minor religions.
Again, leaving Islam out. And anyway, much of what is now considered Islamic stuff is in the Hadiths which were written at least 100 years after Mohammed so who knows if stuff in the Hadiths is even “real” Islam - (from what I’ve gathered, I could only force myself to read some of the Koran itself) or just “tradition” which has been tacked on. Like FGM etc.
I’m not talking about “getting along” so much as promoting moral absolutes being supported by government as they are standard human morality, necessary for human civilization. IOW no government mandating or promoting immorality, which is what is happening today.
AFAIAC Islam needs to be defeated and put back in the closet, just like faggotry. And oddly enough many Islamic countries have huge traditions of pederasty...
Oh, very well. Me too.
You realize of course we have such a system in place already, it is called the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Sadly most people know less about those documents than they do their own religious tenants.
The problems arise of course when people rely on clergy to interpret for them what they must do, just like Congress and the Supreme Court. Then you have lawyers involved, sort of like inquisitions.
While I am no scholor, I am aware of the book of Revelation’s predictions of the mega church. Even better I believe those phropecies, and the message of Salvation that is within.
