Dressed in black jeans, leather jacket and crash helmet, the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate joined tens of thousands of bikers in a rally honouring military veterans.
"It is certainly seen by those in the media as a godsend, as it will give a so far dismal Republican primary season a shot of excitement.
"However, the Republican establishment cannot be happy. They probably view her candidacy as a spoiler, as she has the potential to split their party's vote and ensure a Democratic win."
Mrs Palin is a paid contributor to Fox News and has her own reality TV show. She has written a best-selling book and draws large crowds when she appears at book stores, rallies and other events.
But establishment figures in the Republican Party believe Mrs Palin has been involved in too many political rows and soap-opera dramas to win the nomination.
Alongside Mr Romney, former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, former speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and pizza entrepreneur Herman Cain lead the race.
Mrs Palin joined the riders in the Pentagon parking lot before heading to the rally on the Mall in downtown Washington.
"Nice to meet you," Mrs Palin told one fellow rider. "Thanks for doing what you're doing for the veterans."
"How do you wear all this leather and stay cool?" she asked another.
Mrs Palin's 'One Nation' road trip is the latest and biggest hint that the former governor of Alaska wants a shot at the Republican nomination to run against Barack Obama.
Scott Conroy, author of Sarah From Alaska, said: "Sarah Palin is someone who single-handedly turned the 2008 campaign on its head. She can draw a crowd of tens of thousands of people whenever and wherever she wants."

I was reading the comments. The hate for Sarah is incredible. I wont vote for her in the Primaries but will if she wins the nomination. I like her but I think our country needs a Cain.

My guess is that she isn’t driving a bike herself due to liability concerns.
If a lefty infiltrator steered into her and feigned a back injury - you get the idea.

Did you read the posts at the end of the article. Go look at the 50 posted pictures and then go scroll though the comments. I am not sure if these posts are from people in the UK or if they are SEIU people..but they are very negative and want Palin to run since they say 0bama can wipe the floor with her.

Great Point give me Palin/Cain and it would be my dream ticket. Sadly the lefts hatred would come out like never before. Even to the point of violence. I can guarentee it.
