Sarah Palin’s son Trig is in the news again following the liberal blog Wonkette bashing her and saying her son, who has Down Syndrome, is “retarded” and “somewhat alive.” Now Hustler published Larry Flynt has gotten in on the attacks.
Flynt is no stranger to controversial comments over the years as the head of the soft-cord pornographic magazine and a free speech advocate, but his comments about Sarah Palin’s son may be some of the most over-the-top remarks he’s made to date.
In a new interview with the London Independent newspaper, Flynt rambled from topic to topic until he settled on Palin, who is considering whether to run for the Republican nomination for president this year.
“Sarah Palin is the dumbest thing. But I made a fortune off of her. [He made a porn film called Nailin' Palin, based on her],” he said.
Then, he went after Trig, saying, “She did a disservice to every woman in America. She knew from the first month of pregnancy that kid was going to be Down’s Syndrome. It’s brain dead. A virtual vegetable.”
Flynt followed up on the Wonkette theme — that Palin is supposedly exploiting Trig by having him with her at some political events — by saying, “She carries it to all these different political events against abortion, she did it just because she didn’t want to say she’d had an abortion. How long is it going to live? Another 12, 15 years? Doesn’t even know it’s in this world.”
“So what kind of compassionate conservative is she? I don’t think anybody will want her near the White House,” Flynt added.
The London Independent reporter, Johann Hair, was left speechless: “I am so thrown by the unpleasantness of all this I don’t even interject.”
In its attack on Palin and her disabled son, the Wonkette post commented on his birthday and said, “What’s he dreaming about? Nothing. He’s retarded. His mom went to a lot of trouble to leak amniotic fluid over 8 states to make sure that he arrived in this world somewhat alive.
The Wonkette story prompted a massive conservative backlash on Twitter and calls for major advertisers to pull their advertising. Several companies such as Papa Johns, Huggies and Vanguard dropped their ads and others soon followed suit.
Wonkette eventually removed the post and issued a tepid apology and the writer, Jack Steuf, has left the blog.

Down Syndrome persons are UNIVERSALLY a blessing to virtually everyone they encounter. Their parents and relatives all seem to agree. They emit nothing but happiness and radiate nothing but love. Trig Palin and all Down Syndrome persons as well as everyone who is handicapped in any way are all gifts from almighty God and they are here because He has a purpose for them. All we have to do is cooperate.

Um... would that be the drooling Larry Flynt? Trig will probably contribute more to society in his lifetime than Flynt will.
Second off, I admire your desire to pray for Larry Flynt, I really do. Sadly, because too many (myself included, back when Flynt tried to flimflam Christians and I had hope he would awaken spiritually) have prayed for this dead-soul and perhaps been the reason this vile flesh remains among us spewing the spirit of anti-Christ daily.
Frankly, I no longer pray for the salvation of Larry Flynt, he just reviles the Christian love which that embodies. I pray for the swift destruction of the spirit of anti-Christ that rules Larry Flynt ... of course, knowing, having read the book and been instructed by the ending, that the spirit of anti-Christ will continue to grow in our midst until Our Lord and Savior puts a stop to the filth.
It seems that praying over and over for one so hell-bent upon destroying souls of his fellowmen and women is counter-Christian. But that's just me and I'm woefully short of godhood so I don't comprehend the bigger picture. You can continue to pray for vermin like Flynt, I'll just eschew the exercise rather than pray for his swift destruction.
I don't really believe you're going to pray him away from his father, a murderer of souls from the start. Perhaps, as Larry lay dying from a gunshot wound, he was at the moment of repentence. Now, having been triaged and saved from death he appears to revel in debasing/destroying anything with love or godliness attached. For such I will not pray again. Let him go to his father in Hell.
Flynt’s Hustler rag being considered soft-core porn is comparable to a Bugatti Veyron getting 50 MPG!

He’s beyond pathetic. What a sad way to go through life, and I’m even not talking about his physical disabilities. There’s only one way to fix a warped mind like his, and I fear (for him) that he won’t find it until it’s too late.

Yes. That would be like a prodigal son returning from another world, but I agree. Mr. Flynt is harming himself far more than he’s hurting anyone else. May he repent before it’s too late for him.
